Has anyone heard of or considered about the idea that the mention of Michael in Dan 12:1 was a reference to Jesus?

I heard this from John Evans who wrote "The Prophecies of Daniel 2" -- a book that may meet the expectations about writings on Daniel for those who see the fulfillment of Daniel being accomplished through Jesus at the time of the Roman Empire( as the fourth kingdom).

There are some interesting implications about resurrection if the connection between Jesus and Michael idea has merit.

There is the idea that Michael standing up or rising up not only refers to His acquiring of power but also to resurrection. The word for "stand" in the Septuagint is the word Jesus uses for resurrection in John 5 and John 11.

Dan 12:1 “At that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who shall be found written in the book.

So then, Mike, would you conclude that Jesus in His pre-incarnate state, was, in fact, Michael the archangel, as Jehovah's Witnesses affirm?

I know you are probably talking to MikeW...But my name is Mike too and you weren't specific. Anyhow...I personally believe that Michael and Jesus are one in the same. But not in the sense that Jehovah's Witnesses affirm. I think if you do an honest study it is most reasonable to conclude that they are one in the same.

Consider these two passages...

Jude 9 "Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!"

Zechariah 3:1-2 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?

If you let scripture interpret itself we see that there should be no question. Satan was standing before God in his roll as, "the accuser of the brethren," here in Zechariah 3. He was pointing out the sin in the life of the high priest who was representative of old covenant Israel...Or for better lack of terms, "the body of Moses," While the Lord...or pre-incarnate Christ was standing in opposition to him.

Zechariah 3 says that it was the Lord that was doing this, and the new testament authors through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit tells us that it was Michael.

Ah. so you are the one we can turn to for JW doctrine.

But now I see that Michael is shown in Dan 10 as "one of the chief angels" which tends to speak against Dan 12 as a reference to Jesus.
Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

The idea I mentioned in the OP might seem more possible if Michael was only mentioned in Dan 12.
