Can total depravity and dispesationalist mix?

I ask this question eventhough I am not a dispensationalist. I wonder how someone can believe we are completely depraved and corrupt yet at the same time get raptured at a young age? To me there is a major logic error either in the question or we can't be totally depraved. Which leads me into original sin and how it can work within the dispensationalist fram work?

hi jim-- are you talking about being raptured at a young age, perhaps before the person is saved but not yet to the age of accountability?

TK,
Yes I am speaking being raptured during the age of innocence. I have recently been contemplating the whole doctrine of original sin and quite frankly I am leaning away from its teachings. This is just one of the possible consequences that popped into my noggin as I chase the implications for diffrent teachings if original sin doctrine is false.

i agree with you regarding the doctrine of original sin as applied by the RC church. however, i think we are born with a sin nature, and at some point likely at a very young age we will sin. of course the age of innocence is ill-defined and likely is different for each person. i think even dispensationalist would state that while we are totally depraved, God's grace extends to those before they reach the age of accountability. i grew up in a dispensational church and they believed this.

I am still not convinced on the sin nature part. As I study I am leaning more towards us being blank slates not good nor evil. We learn sin from our parents, society and the wisperings of satan. Also we don't become children of wrath until we sin. I know this appears to be an unpopular view but it seems scripture is leading me this way.

you could be right-- but it may be a moot point because "all have sinned," regardless of why.
