I think you mean Mark 13:14
I believe the term "abomination of desolation" is a Jewish idiom. Luke, writing for a gentile audience, translates the phrase in the paralel passage (Luke 21:20). He says "when you see JERUSALEM BEING SURROUNDED BY ARMIES"
It seems fairly clear, then, that the abomination of desolation happened sometime in that 'generation'. This fits best with a fulfillment in the events of and surrounding AD70.
There are multiple theories as to WHAT EXACTLY is to be considered the abomination. Was it the continued Jewish worship practices (which were a visible sign of their spiritual rejection of Jesus) or was it the Roman armies and their caesar worship taking place in the temple area? I am not sure, but I am confident some event around AD70 was the fulfillment.

I agree with the second part (se7en)

thank you Mattrose..Yes, Mark13:14, when JESUS spoke of the great tribulation...So, how does this fit with pre-rapture?
Will God's people go through the tribulation?
"But for the elect's sake, whom he chose, he shortened the days."
There appear to be many false prophets in these days.
So, we need to pray to have
discernment and that we be watching and waiting........Believing
that the taking away or tribulation can come at any moment.

It would be hard to try and prove a pre-trib rapture from Matt 24, Mark 13 or Luke 21 since there is no mention of one.MLH wrote:thank you Mattrose..Yes, Mark13:14, when JESUS spoke of the great tribulation...So, how does this fit with pre-rapture?

As far as God's people going through the tribulation, well, I'm Amil so the tribluation mentioned in Matthew 24 I believe refers to the Jewish war that took place from 66-70AD.
If there is still a future tribulation I don't see how God's people will mind going through it, since Christians have been suffering and being killed throughout the Church age anyway.
I don't know if I really answered your question(s) though.

By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35)
Hi MLH-
due to the varying views of the end times, it seems the best policy is simply to serve the Lord wholeheartedly not because "time may be short" or "he may appear any minute" but rather just because serving the Lord wholeheartedly is the right thing to do.
as previously noted by other posters, Christians throughout the world are already under heavy tribulation/persecution. if you become a Christian in muslim-controlled nations your life expectancy may be quite short. christians have to meet secretly in China or risk being dragged off to jail.
We Christians in America have it easy. Therefore, many have little stomach for the possibility that we may have to live through the tribulation (if in fact there will be a literal 7 yr trib period and no pre-trib rapture). perhaps persecution is the best thing that could happen to the church in america. it seems to make for stronger disciples.
