Abel was righteous, Seth began to invoke the name of the Lord, and Enoch walked with God, besides all the other Old testament examples who knew God.dwight92070 wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 7:11 am." Dwight - I said they lost their consciousness, specifically, of the reality of the Trinity, not of God Himself. When Jesus came, the truth of the Trinity began to be revealed gradually once again.
John 1 18 - "No one has seen God at any time; THE ONLY BEGOTTEN GOD WHO IS IN THE BOSOM OF THE FATHER, HE HAS EXPLAINED HIM."
Dwight - FALSE! The only begotten God is Jesus, not Israel. It tells us that clearly in the same verse, 14, and again in verse 15. As before, you are deceived.
Furthermore, soul and spirit are the same thing.
Dwight - Not according to Hebrews 4:12

Once again, John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit, while yet in his mother's womb, and when he grew up, he turned many back to the Lord their God (Father), and also he went as a forerunner before Jesus ... Luke 1:15-17

Re: The Inescapable Trinity
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are mentioned together in the same passage over 150 times in the New Testament. Is that just a coincidence? No, they belong together and always have.

Here is another clear reference to the Trinity:
"...for through Him (Jesus) we both (Jew and Gentile) have our access in one Spirit to the Father." Ephesians 2:18

Luke 4:18 - "The SPIRIT of the Lord (the Father) is upon Me (the Son), because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor."
Re: The Inescapable Trinity
2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.Dwight wrote:Luke 4:18 - "The SPIRIT of the Lord (the Father) is upon Me (the Son), because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
Does the Spirit of the Lord, transforming us, imply that we become part of the Godhead?

Re: The Inescapable Trinity
Obviously not. Why do you ask?
Re: The Inescapable Trinity
I ask because you seem to think that the spirit of God coming upon God's son, comprises proof that Jesus one of the persons of the "Godhead". And the spirit transforming us seems to be a similar case, the only difference being us rather than the divine son.

Re: The Inescapable Trinity
Dwight- That's NOT the ONLY difference. The Spirit of the Lord God coming upon Jesus was the fulfillment of a specific scripture - Isaiah 61:1-2, which confirmed again that Jesus was the Messiah. Since Jesus was the Messiah, we know from many Old Testament scriptures, that the Messiah was and is God. That's NOT the case when the Holy Spirit comes upon us.
Dwight - Also, it is true that when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, that He does transform us, if we are willing to be transformed. However, Jesus did not need to be transformed - He always was holy and without sin.

Re: The Inescapable Trinity
I just realized that this past Sunday was Trinity Sunday, a celebration of the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. Had I known, I probably would have wished everyone a Happy Trinity Day!
