Hey Matt-

I guess another problem with your "prophetic" argument as it pertains to this passage is that there are many many evangelical churches whose members really have no idea of what the prophetic is, or they simply dont believe it is for today. Charismatic congregations would therefore, it seems, reap the only benefit from "the prayer of faith, if your interpretation is correct. I attended different churches for years and never heard a prophetic utterance of any sort. The church I attend now is quite different.

However, I also add that congregations who are not exercising prophetic gifts are missing out on a lot of things.

I have a KJV study bible with commentary and the gist is "The prayer of faith discerns God's will and perserverses until it is accomplished. God's will however is not to heal in every case and true faith can discern and accept that. Rom 8.26-27


This is the commentary not necessarily my opinion.
