Well, that was interesting! The Lazarus arguments seem a bit speculative and disorganized, imo. They could be filtered down to two or three good arguments. There's no very strong internal evidence (in just the gospel) for naming a John as the author/eyewitness/disciple/apostle either, from what I can tell.

But the external evidence - comparison to Rev and other epistles and the early Christian testimonies - seem to make a pretty strong case for a John, it seems. So, I would guess that it was mostly the testimony of the apostle/disciple John (of Zeb. and/or the revelator?) and he collaborated with others, perhaps Lazarus. ... or maybe the other way around.

Apparently, some people argue that the disciple/author was Nathanael (John 1) or James (son of Zebedee) with John. I don't suppose I'll look into it much more.

... but I would be interested to see any early Christian testimony that Lazarus was the primary author. That was mentioned, but I missed the link if there was one.
