Hi all,
In Matt 9:18-26 there is the story of the little girl restored to life and a woman healed. The littel girl was 12 years old and the woman with the issue of blood had her problem for 12 years. Obviously “12 years” is the thing they have in common but it is unclear what the connection may be and may read a bit too much into it.
Has anyone come across this with any more insight?...or is this " 12 years" simply a coincidence within the story?

Personally I'd go with this thought.johnb wrote:“12 years” is the thing they have in common but it is unclear what the connection may be and may read a bit too much into it.
If it had been just a 'story', or a parable, perhaps we could try & look for deeper symbolic messages hidden within, but since it is a collection of eye-witness events that really happened, my vote is for it being pure co-incidence.

Hi Suzana,
Good point.
I tend to think it is also just coincidence.

Personally, I don't think there is anything co-incidental in scripture.johnb wrote:Hi all,

Desire of Ages - Chapter 36 - The Touch of Faith [This chapter is based on Matt. 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43; Luke 8:40-56.]
Possibly the healing of the woman could be seen as the healing of those that were left out under the old covenant. The dead little girl could be seen as the resurrection, who by faith are those of the new Covenant.
