Re: Thoughts on Post-Mortem Purging
I have read so many books on this subject now, I can't remember exactly which book contained that suggestion. I think it was a book of over 300 pages, by John Wesley Hanson, entitled: "Universalism: The Prevailing Doctrine of the Christian Church During its First Five Hundred Years, " (1899). The b...

Re: Thoughts on Post-Mortem Purging
From what I have read, it seems that the term "Purgatory," as the name of a specific place, was not used prior to the twelfth century by the Roman Catholic Church. Prior to that, many, if not all, Christians believed that there is such a thing as postmortem purging, though specific beliefs differed...

How will all the people who died before Christ be saved if not posthumously?

Re: God actively hates some of us ?
It seems that God loves and hates at the same time, for it is written that he "so loved the world", yet some are under wrath!

Why should we assume that humans cannot repent after death? Do they no longer have free will?

Re: Did God command women's hands to be cut off without pity?
Thanks for the clarification, Steve. I can see that God might do something unpleasant or command something unpleasant in order to bring about a greater good. Good parents do that with their children in order to train them. They may confine them to their room for a short while, deprive them of privi...

Re: CULTS. on today's boadcast.
Maybe a way that might avoid offense or trouble would be to say something like, "we can't really take up much more time as others are waiting to talk, but maybe if you bring it up on the message board we can hash it out and see what others say as well?"
Thanks,
Bob

Re: CULTS. on today's boadcast.
Steve,
Thanks for the response. I am wondering now if I have done something wrong or if my character is somehow "off" for feeling bothered by that incident. Do you think that I am being too critical?
