Re: Preaching in Acts and Christology

I do think it's fair to use the silence to help determine what was most important to the apostles and their scribes. Surely more was said than what was recorded, but it doesn't seem like key facts would be left out of every sermon. Looking at the 8 theological statements that the New Testament says ...

Re: suicide

As Homer said, please seek some local help if you can. We'll continue to pray for you.

... and I don't know the answer either, and it just doesn't seem to me like the important thing to think about.

Re: Trinities podcast

Dale Tuggy and Chris Date debated the divinity of Jesus a few days ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSve-Aln16Y I didn't find it very informative, but it was long, and I may have been inattentive during some parts (especially the Q&A). Chris Date seemed to be going for some more obscure arguments...

Re: Where Is Everybody?

Yeah. Forums are much better for developing and tracking arguments and ideas, I think, but the majority has spoken!

Re: Our “spirits”?

I reckon we have or are a spirit and/or soul, so I'm a dualist, I guess. Other than that, I haven't really thought about it. I found Colossians 2:5 interesting: "For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ." W...

Re: Trinities podcast

I've listened to 6 or so random episodes, not all related closely to trinitarianism. It's often interesting and informative. But is there some episode where he simply describes his view of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit - how they're the same and how they're different? Frankly, I can't really t...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"

And I start to think, well, if God is particularly fond of 3, then why don't we have 3 arms and 3 legs and 3 eyes instead of 2? Maybe He is fond of 2. And so on. And then we split into yet more denominations. ;) :) That's a good one, Singalphile! But then again, a lot of people like the number 7, a...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"

Hello, 3Resurrections. I understand how God might be called "father" prior to, as you say, "having The Word become His Son at the incarnation." I wasn't saying that I thought a "mother" was necessary. I did think your point about Jesus needing a mother (Mary) in order to be called "son" made sense. ...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"

I have been waiting for someone to respond to 3Re[s]urrections post on 2/28. I thought she made some interesting points which haven't been responded to. She wrote: Because of this necessity for the Son to be sharing the same type of human body form with those He represents, then if we had an "etern...
