Re: Hints of the Messiah in the Line of Cain
Thanks Paidion. Are you saying that you don't believe God uses typology or numerology or does the study of these subjects just seem speculative, dangerous, unhelpful, uninteresting or otherwise inconsequential to you? How do you feel about God's possible use of wordplays on things of obvious prophet...

Re: The faith OF Jesus Christ
Hi Si,
Perhaps this article will help you decide for yourself. It seems to give a pretty thorough discussion. The correct translation appears to be quite debatable.
"Faith IN Christ" or "Faithfulness OF Christ"

Re: Hints of the Messiah in the Line of Cain
Hi Paidion, Thanks for the question. You are absolutely correct about Noah decending from Seth. Though, I'm not sure what portion of my post suggested that Cain may have had descendents who survived beyond the flood. That's not at all what I meant to suggest. I must have been unclear on some point. ...

Hints of the Messiah in the Line of Cain
Many of the forum's readers have expressed a belief in the symbolism employed in Genesis in relationship to whether it should be taken literally or not. Though, it's not my intent to argue in this thread as to how literal Genesis should or should not be taken, I would like to piggyback on this trend...

Re: Suggestions for adult Sunday school materials?
Just throwing one out there but you may want to check out http://regularbaptistpress.org/sunday-school/adults/truth-for-living . I can't vouch for the newest material from them but years ago, as a new Christian, I found their material very informative. Also, I'd recommend These Were God's People . I...

Darius the Mede as God Himself
Hi all, For at least 2,000 years, the identity of Darius the Mede in the book of Daniel has been shrouded in mystery. Various theories have been put forth over the years, one of the earliest by Josephus. However, to this day, none of these identities seem very compelling to most. Further, the absenc...

Re: To Marry or not to Marry?
Hi Singalphile, I think Paul says it all. It is good for some to marry, some not so good. If you don't find yourself struggling with preoccupation with the opposite sex, that can be a tremendous asset in serving Christ. Having limited immediate family can be very liberating and enable you to feel mo...

Re: To Marry or not to Marry?
Hi Singalphile,
What has made you recently begin considering marriage? Are there any particular thoughts and feelings you have been having lately? Has anything about your circumstances changed recently?

Re: Are certain types of prayer putting God to the test?
Thanks for the example Mike. I understand what you are saying. There is often a fine line between being demanding and boldly coming before God's throne with our requests. In your particular example, I think I would probably feel somewhat uncomfortable with the phrasing too. One possible way to rephr...

Re: Are certain types of prayer putting God to the test?
Hi Mike, It's great to hear that your prayer life is gaining some momentum! To get a better understanding of what it is that you are struggling with, could you please share a little more about the kind of promises spoken of in Scripture for which you have difficulty praying for fulfillment? Blessing...
