Re: The faith OF Jesus Christ

It says it in Hebrews 3, Hebrews 3 NKJV, "1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house. " Dwight: To be "faithful to Him" ...

Re: The faith OF Jesus Christ

Just a thought here. I don't know anywhere in the Bible where it says that Jesus exercised faith, just like it is never mentioned that God exercised faith. I don't believe that God has faith, rather He is the object of our faith. If "faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of ...

Re: Mind wandering during Bible study

Thanks Matt. Another thing that I do is, I switch up Bible translations. I seem to get to a point where I get bogged down in a certain translation, and switching to another not only gives me a fresh perspective and rejuvenates my interest, but as an English only speaker, I think helps me to better u...

The faith OF Jesus Christ

I have been reading the KJV lately, and came across a verse in Galatians which really stuck out to me. Note the differences in the underlined parts. Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, th...

Mind wandering during Bible study

In a recent Narrow Path episode, a caller talked to Steve about his difficulty reading the Bible, how his mind wandered, and he found it hard to focus. Personally, I have this issue as well, but I have come up with some personal strategies that I would like to share. 1) I have classical music playin...

Re: A. W. Tozer - The Pursuit of God

I'm 7 chapters in and chapter 2 also stood out to me. What beautiful writing this is, edifying yet also challenging. I listened to chapter 2 last night before bed and sat up for a while thinking and praying about the things and people that have taken God's rightful place in the temple of my heart. I...

A. W. Tozer - The Pursuit of God

I heard Steve mention this book on The Narrow Path recently. I have to admit that I have only heard Tozer's name, yet was not familiar with his work. I got home today and did a search for the audio book, and came up with this free public domain version: https://librivox.org/the-pursuit-of-god-by-aid...

Re: Preferred Bible Translation

I have recently come to enjoy the KJV again. I got the Westminster Reference Bible, which is great because it defines archaic words in the margin. This way it is not much more difficult to understand than other word for word translations. Highly recommended for those who want to read the KJV but str...

Re: Good Christian podcasts/lecture series

Thanks for reminding me of the Naked Bible podcast, I've been listening at work and it's been enjoyable. Dr. Heiser really shows how important it is to get into the worldview and culture of the ancient near east in order to understand the Bible in the proper context, it is amazing how much we can ov...

Re: Good Christian podcasts/lecture series

Thanks for the recommendations! I am familiar with all of those except Theology in the Raw. I listened to a few Naked Bible podcasts in the beginning of the series, about baptism a couple years ago. I will have to pick that up again, as I have watched several presentations by Dr. Heiser on YouTube a...
