Re: On the transition from part-time to full-time ministry

Steve. That was so helpful. Thank you for sharing with us. Since my teens, I've had a calling for ministry, that has never felt fulfilled unless I was a full-time pastor, providing for my family. Though in the positions I was in, I honestly don't feel like I was prepared for the work. Either functio...

Re: Ghosts

I agree TK. Great book. A friend of mine whose integrity I trust beyond measure was inspired by Blumhardt's ministry to the degree he did an english translation of a german biography of him. Blumhardts experience may fly in the face of some theology, but imo, there are so many gaps in the spiritual ...

Re: Renovare?

Renovare is an organization Richard Foster put together to equip people to do small groups that integrate different streams of Christianity. Social Justice. Holiness. Charismatic. I think there are others... too lazy to look them up. Some of the books they used included devotionals and study questio...

Re: Why Are We Here?

Without God everything is vanity. If everything occurred by accident it is of no value. Actually, everything is vanity with God too. Ecc 1:1 It seems to you that without God everything is vanity. That if life is an accident, it is of no value. But many people who do not believe in God disagree with...

Re: Why Are We Here?

A discussion amongst Christians on ethics is kinda stuck in a Matrix (the movie)-like situation. Because we believe YHWH created and sustains the universe, then some form of ethics is hard-wired into everyone, including the unbeliever. So it's impossible to argue that if there wasn't a god/bible, th...

Re: Bathroom Wrath

We don't need to guess as to the consequences of these policy changes. They've been in effect in many states for years. In every case, there has not been any up-tick in sexual assault cases. Colorado State Law Has Prohibited Discrimination In Public Accommodations Since 2008. In 2008, Colorado expan...

Re: Did God Approve of Polygamy?

I stand corrected. The Bible is silent on why polygamy is not forbidden, and why it is the example for many of the patriarchs. Show me the verse where Jesus directly stated that polygamy was forbidden, or not in God's plan. You can show me that Jesus describes marriage. But you can't show me that th...

Re: Why Are We Here?

If we evolved out of a series of accidents and are feelings and emotions are just there to make us more likely to survive why would human life matter at all? Or even life, for that matter? If no life matters then how can you have morals? If some lives matter or human lives matter what determines th...

Re: Did God Approve of Polygamy?

I believe it was societies social welfare program not God's. Jesus established what God had intended. How can you know that? We are trying to look back at civilization 4000+ years ago. You are doing so through the lens of Jesus 2000 years ago. Jesus lived in a very specific time, so his teachings h...

Re: Bathroom Wrath

I encountered this on a ferry in Seattle this weekend. It is why the outcry on this subject is ridiculous. No woman or girl is subjected to this in a woman's bathroom. There is a greater threat for boys to be victimized in their gender specific bathroom than girls in a transgender friendly bathroom....
