Re: Gold Teeth

I find it difficult to believe that God is doing these alleged gold miracles. It is, of course, possible for God to do anything He wishes, and I believe that He does perform certain miracles of other sorts. Turning non-gold objects into gold, however, is not the sort of miracles that are associated ...

Michelle,

Thank you for the excellent review, and for saving me the time and frustration of watching that video!

Re: Who incited David to number Israel?

There is mystery here, which may not be able to be resolved entirely with the information that has been given to us. There are other "contradictions" in the two accounts of the numbering, as well (e.g., different census numbers, different lengths of the suggested judgment, etc.)—most of which have t...

Re: Who incited David to number Israel?

Hi Paidion, As they stand, these two verses do seem to contradict one another...unless, of course, they are both true. There are some who suggest that the writer of Chronicles (or a later copyist) altered the original, because he thought it inappropriate to suggest that God incited David to sin. Thi...

Re: Were Idols an Issue in Jesus' Day?

I have often read that the Jews did not overtly worship images again after the Babylonian exile. Perhaps there were individuals who secretly did so (as there were probably individuals who secretly practiced witchcraft), but it was not generally tolerated in Israel in those times.

Darin wrote: "If true for the Jews then (and I tend to agree), then on what basis would that not be true for the Jews today ? If they "reject" our triune view of God (and hence Jesus' divinity) then could the same be still said about their worship as acceptable? " I did not mean to imply that worshi...

Re: Is Allah a different God?

I'm going to take Paidion's side on this one. The Athenians were, according to Paul, ignorantly worshiping the same God that Paul came to preach to them (Acts 17:23). There is great significance in the qualifier "ignorantly." People may perish for lack of knowledge, as did the Jews—though the gods t...

Re: It's A Thin Line Between Love and Hate...

I take position #2. When I said that Jesus did not teach higher standards than those that can be found in the Old Testament, I was not restricting the Old Testament revelation to the dictates of the Mosaic law. Jesus definitely brought many things to light that most Jews had never noticed or thought...

Election Day

I just wanted to urge any of you who can do so, and who have it on your heart to do so, to fast on Tuesday (maybe Monday too!), and pray for the will of God to be done and for him to have mercy on America. It seems to me that much is at stake, not only for America, but also for the world, in this el...
