Re: The ancient understanding of Rememberance

Jim, could you give us some Scriptures that support the "ancient way" as you describe it? That might provide a little more clarity, and a basis for some discussion. Scripture would be nice, but do you agree that to understand the scriptures a person must put it in its full context? Here is some exc...

The ancient understanding of Rememberance

Which path do you take concerning the understanding of Rememberance, Via Moderna (modern way) or Via Antiqua (ancient way)? The modern way, which emerged during the time of the enlightenment and reformation is to Remember something by recalling an event, a simple memorial. The Ancient way, that whic...

Re: The Role of Hell in the Gospel Message?

Hell, what is it? Is it punishment? No, it is not punishment, it is simply to put, after the last judgment separation from the rest, but those who are separated do not suffer because of being punished but simply because they hate God Why must it be the last judgment as opposed to "a judgment"? Wher...

Re: The Role of Hell in the Gospel Message?

So, Jim, your answer to anochria's question (which you posted above your comments) is...? To answer his question, it isn't if someone is going to heaven or hell, both are experienced now to various degree's and will be fully experienced in the future but, the question is do you want to become what ...

Re: The Role of Hell in the Gospel Message?

I'm curious to discuss whether people think the topic of hell (regardless of which classical view you take on it) should have any important part of the gospel message we as Christians present? If so, how much emphasis should be placed on it? Hell, what is it? Is it punishment? No, it is not punishm...

Re: struggling with what churches have become

I have been apart of standard churches for quite some time and had always thought, "this is just the way it is." However, I always had feelings and promptings that made me feel that some things just weren't right. Jarrod I had the same struggle for years as a Non-demoninational with strong attachme...

I go to prepare you a place....

On the show this week several callers were calling in about Jesus saying that He goes to prepare us a place, that he spoke of mansions, etc. I was kind of baffled by some of the responses, but I must say I think Jesus was not speaking about stick built houses. I believe Jesus is speaking of the futu...

Re: The Lord's Eucharist Meal

Priestly1 wrote: Paul is very clear in his Letter to Corinth's Christians.....The Holy Eucharist IS the Body and Blood of Christ. He held it to be a desecrating sacriledge to come before the LORD's Table in "an unworthy state ." Reformed Cristianity and Anabaptists have changed this to in "an unwor...

Re: Gospel overshadowed for 1500 years!

I should have been more explicit. I should not have restricted my purview to that of Western Christianity, because I know that, throughout the whole church age, there were other branches of the Church (e.g., Coptic, Eastern Orthodox, Assyrian, "Thomas Christians" in India, etc.) that did not follow...

Gospel overshadowed for 1500 years!

On Steve's show today (Nov. 5, 2009) a lady called in concerning the gospel and history. I was appauled when Steve mentioned that the Gospel was overshadowed for 1500 years, I still can't believe he said that. I am not RC, but to impose the sins of Rome over the whole church and declare the whole ch...
