Re: God and His Son
Disregard this post. It was a duplicate of the previous one. I don't know how to delete it, so I just replaced its contents with this notice.

Re: God and His Son
Well, a standard trinitarian answer would be that Jesus is God the Son, and He is not God the Father. Both are "God," but they are separate "Persons." Thus, "God the Father" sent "God the Son." God (the Son) came and died; but He was sent by God (the Father). This explanation would resolve the appar...

Re: Awana
We never actually put our kids in AWANA, though we knew other families that did so. I never heard anything negative from our friends about AWANA, though I didn't know about the pledges of allegiance, which would have disturbed me also. Like SteveF, I never did a lot of Bible memorization, and neithe...

Re: Thanks to Steve
That is good to know, Allyn. Thanks for that info. I agree that shorter lectures are to be desired. For one thing, the 90-minute format is not convenient because they are too long to be contained on single CDs in uncompressed form. The Matthew series is the only set of lectures that I did not do bef...

Re: Thanks to Steve
Hi Johnsdad and Karen, Thank you very much for the encouragement. Teaching is really all I know how to do, so it is very gratifying to know that it is proving worthwhile and beneficial in people's lives. I, too, am very grateful for the internet and the mp3s (all of which were posted by others who v...

Re: The Future: Open or Closed?
If I were to debate an Open Theist, I think I would disappoint my fellow Arminians, by not caring enough about winning the debate. I have reasons for not embracing Open Theism—namely certain instances of God knowing future human choices that He is not likely to have directly determined (like Peter's...

Re: LimitedNegatives?
On the question of the origin of the expression "limited negative," I did not make it up, even though Google searches do not produce anything on it. I heard one or two Christian teachers use the expression in the seventies, though I don't remember the identities of those from whom I heard it. I had ...

Re: LimitedNegatives?
Paidion,
Thanks for that list! I think a few of them might not be intended as limited negatives, but you came up with a lot more than I had!

Re: LimitedNegatives?
Hi Matt, Great idea to accumulate a list of these! For those unfamiliar with this, a limited negative would be an expression that is constructed like this: "not A, but B", which, in fact, means this: "not ONLY A, but ALSO B." I once had made a list of some of these that I had found in the New Testam...

Re: The Hiddeness Of God
Jim, You are doing it again! Asking leading questions, but providing no arguments (the same tactic I took you to task for at this page: http://www.theos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=2354&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20 ). What's more, you keep asking the same questions, even when they have already been an...
