Follow the Bible where it leads

the way we have gotten to consider the topic of hell, the permission given or taken in the journey to understand what is meant by hell, possible alternatives to the traditional view- eternal conscious torment. This can and I think should be applied to the Trinity. As Steve has said before, ' the tru...

Re: Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

I would like to respond but now it seems it is discouraged to engage Non-Trinitarians. So why even the Doctrinal Topic- Trinity as an option? The title of the thread was tongue in cheek. Of course Jesus' God wasn't the Trinity. However maybe the title gets people to look at things they wouldn't cons...

Re: Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

Thanks Matt, it seems that while most assume the Trinity you have multiple understandings of what that means. Some people worship and or bless the Trinity, will pray to the Trinity. Beyond that, there are those who believe that God is three selves or those who say one self. There are varying definit...

Re: Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

Matt, I think they show that not only did Jesus have a God that was not the Trinity while he walked the earth, but they show that he still does have a God now, post-resurrection and ascension. This would seem to challenge the Nicene notion that God and Jesus are ontologically equal and have the same...

Re: Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

Paidon, are you familiar with the large consensus of scholars saying that MONOGENES does not mean begotten but unique or one of a kind? This would seem to challenge your line of thinking af what makes Jesus 'divine'. Here are some quotes- “In the preface of the New King James Bible, we are told that...

Re: Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

Homer, i would have responded like that when I was a Trinitarian. Have you ever paused and given consideration to the possibility that the case for the Trinity is much weaker than generally assumed? John 10:30 for instance. 24The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you ke...

Jesus' God was not the Trinity, why is yours?

"...go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. '"- Jesus yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. -1 Cor. 8...

Re: Love and the Trinity

How does the scripture it use the word 'holy'? Our preference of how we like to view it is obsolete.

Re: Preaching in Acts and Christology

Thanks Darin. Acts 2 Peter's sermon at Pentecost- 22 “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and f...

Preaching in Acts and Christology

One of the things that added to a stronger non-trinitarian stance for me was what the preaching in the book of Acts had to say regarding Jesus. Looking at the preaching in Acts was a valid method for Steve and many in regards to learning more of what the Bible actually teaches in regards to hell vs ...
