Re: Hey, mattrose! I read your blog...

Thanks Michelle :) Seems like everything is pretty much ready (we're keeping it simple, but it'll be quite a large wedding b/c of my job and her niceness) Please pray that the road conditions will be good for people to get there and for us to leave afterward (we're going to Ohio that evening) Thanks...

Re: John Wesley

Here's my final paper on "What Constitutes Wesleyan Theology?" A Theology of Extreme Equilibrium A pendulum has four working features: A foundational pivot, a connecting rod, the Law of Gravity, and a weighted bob. The pivot is the source. The rod connects the source to the bob. The bob swings back ...

A New Illustration

I am not one who believes that anything (like the triangle, the egg, or the H2O) can adequately illustrate the concept of the Trinity. That being said, I have been working on an illustration that may be helpful (though I'm sure it has many many flaws). I am actually using the following 2 paragraphs ...

Re: Reflections on re-reading these threads

I think it's unfortunate if CI hasn't been argued for thoroughly here. I'm about to go to bed, but my simplest argument for the CI view is as follows

1) God alone is immortal
2) God gifts eternal life to those 'in Christ'
3) Not everyone is 'in Christ'

Re: Reflections on re-reading these threads

I taught the three views by simply presenting the top verses used by each camp. I let the discussion go where the students took it. Almost without fail (in the various contexts I've taught this) the reaction is as follows 1) The traditional view is on way more shaky ground than I realized 2) The con...

LimitedNegatives?

Steve (or anyone), I've heard you mention, and provide examples of, what I think you called 'limited negatives' in Scripture. For example, the other day I was listening a tape in which you were describing the various interpretations of "don't store up treasures for yourself on earth, but store up tr...

Re: Meeting with Steve

Paul,

Praise the Lord for your repentance and new-found commitment!

Steve,

What was the nature of your meeting with Clark Pinnock? Did you guys talk theology? What did you think of him? I don't remember hearing of this meeting before.
