Why did Jesus allow the demons to enter the swine?
In Matthew 8:31 and the parallel passages in Mark in Luke is the story of the demons entreating Jesus to allow them to go into the swine instead of being cast out. At church Sunday a discussion came up about why Jesus would consent to this. I offered up the idea that perhaps Jesus, as the Creator of...

Re: Strategies for Unity?
Hopefully we are beginning to see a movement to head off the schism within evangelism. Along with Steve I have heard a few other leaders beginning to express concern. Here is an article by Roger Olson I thought I would Share. This one is short enough that I thought I would simply paste it here inste...

Re: Exhaustive sovereignty-keeping calvinists honest
True, but he wrote a systematic theology that is often seen as the source of much of the mindset of many or most of the better known reformed theologians over the last century or so. So when they try to distance themselves from some of the more onerous consequences of their Calvinism it is much hard...

Re: Left my church... looking for Portland, OR area Christia
The Well is a great church. I know a few people who attend there and some of it's leaders. Also, the church has a large number of it's people who have gone through the Perspectives program. I have noticed a strong correlation between this and the seriousness of a church body. Please say hi to Chris ...

Exhaustive sovereignty-keeping calvinists honest
One of the blogs I follow is by Rodger Olson. This can be found at patheos.com . Check the blogs on the patheos site, he is easy to find. In this two part article he shows a good connection continuing from the renowned theologian/write Charles Hodge to modern day reformed thinking. Often Calvinists ...

Re: Left my church... looking for Portland, OR area Christia
Jaydam, a church my wife and I have visited and like, located in the general Beaverton area, is Village Baptist Church. We have had the missions pastor, and then his wife for another week's class, instruct at the last three Perspectives classes we coordinated and are very impressed with the churches...

Re: Great free booklet on FAQs of Arminianism
I agree with all of the mentioned shortcomings of the booklet. And given the level of knowledge displayed here I can understand the frustration with the brevity of the answers contained therein. However, given level of knowledge of the average western Christian on either side of the argument this ma...

Re: Great free booklet on FAQs of Arminianism
I do not write particularly well myself but I do read enough to often notice poor or weak grammar. However, with this book I actually noticed one point where I told myself to remember how Rodger phased the sentence because I thought he did it so well. So yes, please, where is the book poorly written?

Great free booklet on FAQs of Arminianism
Hey fellow nerds, here is another resource, an E book. This one by Rodger Olsen. As Steve does, he gives the Arminianism side without being aggressive about it. One could wish that most Calvinist were as well balanced and amiable in presenting their case. http://seedbed.com/feed/arminianism-get-free...

Barna poll on Cavinists vs Arminians
I found this study, which is less than 4 years old so it should still be relevant, on American church leanings on the makeup of American churches as to their leanings between Calvinists and Arminians. BTW, one can subscribe to the Barna studies without cost. These studies have some great insights on...
