Re: Was Jacob superstitious?

Hi Paidion, Yes, this passage is strange. I have come to believe over the years that ancient men and women of faith often held erroneous notions. How could it be otherwise? Rachel apparently believed in the fertility properties of mandrakes, properties also believed by practicers of magic to have th...

Re: Prayer request

Hi Paidion, Thanks. That is interesting. We have discussed it and the only thing that we both could think of that may have had a deleterious effect on our health is we lived for 5 years in an apartment that had a very serious mold issue. I do not know if there is a causal link between mold spores an...

Re: Prayer request

Yes. It appears she has the same thing. Although this diagnosis was incidental. There is still no reason as to why she had the myositis. The hard muscle swelling is still present, but not nearly as painful. She does have a positive auto-immune factor and also elevated RA levels. Regards, Brenden.

Re: Prayer request

Thanks Michelle! Interesting read. Yes, his joke about being an older Jewish man resonates. The symptoms are vague and tend to be treated as symptoms, not in view of curing. For instance, I had hypertensive spikes (which landed me in the hospital on several occasions). I had fatigue, weight loss, de...

Re: Prayer request

Homer and Paidion, Homer, I assume the LOML must be a reference to your wife? But unfortunately, I am not hip with the interweb lingo..... But there is definitely an inflammatory process going on with my wife. Paidion, you were a math teacher correct? Here is my question with an introductory s...

Re: About Abortion

First, a woman's body is not her property. Nor is a man's body his property. She and he have not created nor purchased their bodies, and they are therefore not natural owners. This is precisely why none of the Libertarian or quasi-Libertarian arguments about morality and etc. have any resonance wit...

Re: Papal encyclical on divorce

My understanding was that he wanted to make a way for divorced Catholics to receive communion, or some such thing. Essentially saying that non-annulled Catholics would not necessarily be kept from communion. I don't think it was a monumental change, maybe symbolically, but not practically. In Protes...

Re: Prayer request

Thank you both.

She did test positive on the ANA test Paidion. She now needs to see a rheumatologist. I am sorry that your wife has had to deal with this. It is very bizarre how some of these things manifest themselves.

Regards, Brenden.

Re: Prayer request

Greetings all, I thought I would post an update. My wife was discharged from the hospital after an 8 day stay. There is still no diagnosis, but the pain abated enough for her to be released. Her white count continues to be high, and they discovered a 3 cm. nodule on her thyroid gland that needs biop...

Re: Prayer request

I tried posting earlier, so please excuse if it double posts. Thank you all for you thoughts and prayers. She developed cellulitis over the site of the swelling and so they are treating her for an infection, but this doesn't really explain the swelling. By the way, Homer, her ANA is elevated, so tha...
