Re: Radio Program & Mask Wearing

Did you catch the part where he mentioned that the mask mandates aren't based on science? He didn't just pull that out of the air, and it's actually quite an understatement. One can't research the topic at all without running into many prominent, qualified medical experts who say making everyone wea...

Re: How did Jesus answer His parents?

They are simply translator's ideas about how to translate the Greek article " tois ". These sorts of things can often be easily resolved by checking with the guys who know. In this case, Robertson says it's a common Greek idiom, and "in my Father's house" is the better rendition. Vincent also says ...

Re: Book Suggestions

"The Pilgrim Church" by E. H. Broadbent is still at the top of my list. https://theos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=54793#p54793 It's not hard to find a hard copy online, and it can be read online or downloaded from several sites: http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks10/1000351h.html http://www.gospeltruth.net...

Re: "Being in the form (morphe) of God" Philippians 2:6

According to the Online Bible Program's Greek lexicon, the Greek word μορφη (usually translated as "form") refers to: 1) the form by which a person or thing strikes the vision 2) external appearance That's Thayer's definition. He's generally good, but in this case clearly incomplete. I think it's c...

The word seems to refer to the outward appearance.
Robertson says it "means the essential attributes as shown in the form."

Abbott-Smith says it can mean 'character'.

Mounce says it can mean 'nature'.

So it seems it can (and does, in this case) mean a lot more than just outward appearance.

Re: Love and the Trinity

The social trinity and a proof based on love seems really desperate to me. But, it begs two questions. First, if God can’t be complete without expressing His love in eternity, then what do you do when considering that the greatest expression of love is to lay down your life for another — that didn’...

No longer receiving email notifications

The forum has stopped sending me email notifications of replies, etc. I'm not sure exactly when it started, but it's been some time, probably at least 6 months ago. It still has my correct email address. Is anyone else having this problem?

Re: Mark of the Beast

Focusedman, this looks to me like more or less standard Seventh Day Adventist beliefs. If you were interested in discussing those points in light of the Bible, I'm sure you'd find some good discussion here. But looking over your past posts, it's pretty clear you're just here to preach your views, an...

Re: Esoteric study

For Jesus said “Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you”. That's from the Gospel of Thomas. Nothing like it is ever stated in the Bible, and it seems much closer to gnosticism than to anything the Bible says Jesus said. So it's not reasonable to believe Jesus ever said it. Th...

Re: Born Again or Begotten Again?

"Adoption as sons" is a poor translation of "υιοθεσια" (huiothesia). The word ought to be translated as the "placing as sons." Could you please provide your source for this? I checked several Greek references (Robertson, Nicoll, Alford, and Zodhiates), and none support it; all say 'adoption' is cor...
