Re: The Trinity and Light

Trinitarian position is but one of several triadologies. Homer has a different one (Paidion) It is one thing to have discussions about God within the context of monotheism, but outside of monotheism you may as well be discussing polytheism or atheism, scripture does not allow for more than one God....

Re: The Trinity and Light

(Happy Lords day to you Homer) I asked my wife your question as food for thought, and she said how bout a prism? (I was impressed, but she is good) This question may not be as hard to answer, as is the answer to 'do photons have mass?' Light has energy and momentum yet it does not have mass. This de...

Re: institutional church?

Thanks for being so reasonable Dwight, I knew we agreed, yet sometimes the discussion 'sounds' like we are against roles and authority, etc. All we are saying is the these roles and positions are elevated far beyond what was needed or meant to be. If men were pure, there would be no problems, and le...

Re: institutional church?

I have not said , nor have I read others on this forum who say, that pastor's are the only ones who we can get teaching from, in the body of Christ’ I did not say YOU trust only leaders and priests for instruction, I said the church was wrong to trust 'only' leaders and priests for instruction' (th...

Re: institutional church?

One of the atheists who come to our Think group, where we have open discussions on any topic, and Atheists generally attend ( http://www.meetup.com/THINK-The-Critical-Thinking-and-Discussion-Forum-San-Jose/ ), anyways the atheist who now confesses he was a closet atheist while he was a pastor of a c...

Re: Does a Christian have to be in a Church

"... The people are genuine, caring, understanding and open. We have great discussions at our Bible Studies, share differing points of view and enjoy the back and forth " That's what I like to hear! Unless we are actually talking, conversing and spending time 'with one another', with God and His wo...

Re: institutional church?

Nothing says the ones receiving pay, ruled over the others . I said I have no problem supporting anyone at all, or anyone who serves in the Temple, but not anyone making rules , ruling over others, or doctrine. Paying someone to rule over us? Think about it, that is the opposite of servant. It was n...

Re: institutional church?

I knew I could expect a good conversation on this forum. I don't want what i said taken the wrong way, to clarify, I don't mind if anyone is given support by a Church body or individual members, that's our perogative. But when a servant is given leadership or control of any sort over the one paying ...

Re: institutional church?

If you have more than ten believers, and still not one of you can teach or organize a simple meeting, then this group does not know what they are doing in the first place :? . If a body of believers can't generate a least one loving considerate and wise person for every ten or twelve, then you shoul...

Re: institutional church?

Hello Dwight, I enjoyed your OP on 'Church buildings' (and your notes on the Trinity thread, welcome). Before I write this, or more, please remember all I believe being Christian, being a disciple, and making disciples, really needs to look like is: being together, sharing with each other, reading, ...
