Re: Where Does it Fit?, or Was there Pottery on the Ark?
I read the AIG article some time ago and it doesn’t really answer the question as to where it fits other that it was built after Babel and after the flood. For some reason I have a hard time accepting that because the bible says there were cities very early on (Cain built cities) and Gobekl Tepe wa...

Re: Where Does it Fit?, or Was there Pottery on the Ark?
I don't have time to read it right now, but a quick search found that Answers in Genesis has published an article about that particular site https://answersingenesis.org/archaeolog ... cient-man/

Re: Does "Holy" Mean "Set Apart"?
I have noticed the same thing. Interestingly, I was just reading a book by Scot McKnight and he also made the argument that holy has more to do with devotion than separation. If 'theology' books are part of the problem here, perhaps 'theology' is also part of the solution. After all, how could 'holy...

Re: Answering a correspondent about full-preterism
Quote from the email you received... "I live in New England and it has divided so many people in the body of Christ" This is the line that struck me. I've been pastoring in NY State, now, for 15+ years and I can honestly say I've NEVER come across full preterism other than on the internet. Of course...

Re: My Uncle's Question
It seems that every time I mention that the resurrection is necessary, someone concludes that I believe in "soul sleep." How can I believe in soul sleep if I don't believe in souls? ψθχη is translated as "soul" in some versions. But how could the rich man have been talking to his soul? Were there t...

Re: My Uncle's Question
Yes, I considered mention that some Christians believe in 'soul sleep' or some variation... but I don't personally hold that view and didn't want to muddy the waters more than I already had

My Uncle's Question
One of my uncles sent me this question via email and I thought I'd share it and my reply ................................. Dear Matthew, A couple of recent funerals have got me to thinking about things of a religious nature, and I am asking for your thoughts here. I understand that when our souls go...

Re: Was Joseph a Calvinist?
God must have prevented the brothers from killing Joseph... I still see Gen 45:5 expressing a hard truth in what God determined for Joseph, but without micro-managing every iota of circumstances to place him in Egypt. God can do this with the highest regard to flexibility among free-will agents. Bl...

Re: Was Joseph a Calvinist?
Ok my friend, I apologize for my muddled response and will try to find common ground in your understanding of the text Thank you for continuing in dialogue :) Let me unpack this by stating: a) God can prevent evil, allow evil, or be the causing agent of calamity/harm (Isa. 45:7) b) God allowed the ...

Re: Was Joseph a Calvinist?
Hi Matt, I didn’t say the brothers had no alternatives, I said their ultimate response was God ordained, that's if you take Joseph’s words at face-value in Gen 45 & 50 . But don’t you know your argument contends that Joseph made fallacious statements against God? So to disprove a Calvinistic procli...
