Re: Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

I understand you, Si, but I think Homer would say that God even though God knew in advance all the evil choices that have made, that foreknowledge does not make God responsible for those evil choices. And I agree. If God COULD know in advance people's choices (which I believe to be logically imposs...

Re: Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

It seems to me that the thing missing in the logic used in regard to foreknowledge is "cause". Does foreknowledge cause an event and if so, how? The logic in the idea that if God knows now (T1) that I will have a tuna sandwich next Friday (T2), then that I will inevitably have the tuna sandwich is ...

Re: Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

From God's perspective, perhaps it could be reasonably said that we don't have free-will in the Libertarian sense. However, from the human plane of existence, it's still rational to conclude that we do very much have Libertarian free-will. Both perspectives are equally valid and capable of being si...

Re: Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

TruthInLove/Carmine, Thanks for offering your notes, but I will most likely get around to listening to that series eventually. This topic has been one I have explored quite a lot. In addition to listening to nearly every narrow path for the last two years, I've watched or listened to a lot of debate...

Re: Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

Thanks Matt and Singalphile for your replies. Singalphile, If God has known since before the creation of the universe that a certain man would end up divorced, on drugs, and damned to hell, could that man instead choose to remain married, live clean, and serve the Lord? True freedom requires the abi...

Foreknowledge = Determinism? And God's Character.

If God has a total and exhaustive knowledge of the future, if he knows every single thing that will come to pass, how can man do anything but act in a way that fulfills God's foreknowledge? If, before creation, God knew precisely who would be saved, and knew who would go to hell, can man go against ...

Re: Debate "Is the Sabbath Binding in the New Covenant?"

I have not finished the debate yet, so maybe this issue was brought up. But there is one thing concerning defining the sabbath that has always bugged me: Isn't the definition of what constitutes the seventh day of the week kind of arbitrary? God didn't invent the day "Saturday", Anglo-Saxons did. It...

On the the front page of this forum, click on "Steve Gregg Lectures" (6th from the top), and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. There are many years of radio programs there, as well as his lectures.

Re: The faith OF Jesus Christ

Dwight: You definitely make some good points and have me rethinking the topic. The Word of Faith teachers say that God Himself exercised faith when He created all things. (Hebrews 11:3) Hank Haanegraph teaches that that is a mistake because who or what does God Himself have faith in? I have always ...

Re: The faith OF Jesus Christ

If a woman is faithful to her husband, that says she is loyal to him, but it tells us nothing about her husband. He could be a real creep and yet she could still be faithful to him. On the other hand, if she has faith in her husband, now we see she trusts him, which tells us a great deal about his ...
