Hello, Thank you for your response. My daughter means it when she calls me "Dad". But it is a description of our relationship , not literal, biological "fatherhood". So the question is: is biology the definitive factor of "mother"hood or "father"hood? Or is it relationship ? Or do both grounds const...

Hello, Christopher, kaufmannphillips: An important question: where do the gospels explicitly claim to be written by the people who are said to have written them? Christopher: Why is this an important question? TK: i have been talking with a debunker who is making a big deal out of the fact that matt...

Mary housed the transformation but to say "mother of God" means God had a beginning, or a start. And it deify's Mary because diety begets diety. I'm much more comfortable in referring to Christ's mother or brothers than "God's" mother. Yes Christ was God, but Mary didn't contribute to that Godness....

Hello, Robin, This to me is a silly argument. There can be little doubt where Christianity came from. It has its origins in Judaism, not Greek mythology. One can hardly imagine that Christianity only had antecedents in Judaism. Even the Judaism of Jesus' time was not immune to external influences, a...

Of course, some might argue that neither Jesus nor Paul were speaking in the third person.

Hello, Paidion, Thank you for your reply. It all depends upon what is meant by "God". If by "God" one means the Father, then the answer is "no". But if one is using "God" as a generic term, if one means an order of being, or divine "essence"', then the answer is "yes". The author of the letter to th...

Hello, Eddie, Thank you for your kind response. Perhaps some of the other participants in this forum will add their comments. In fair disclosure, I come at the issue as a non-Christian religious scholar, and the believers often bring different perspectives. I encourage you to act on your recognition...

Hello, Eddie, Thank you for your posting and your inquiry. Please accept the following for what it is worth. (aleph) There are less than a dozen manuscript sources for Mark that roughly parallel the formula in Matthew: " You say that I am ." Matthew simply states " You say " or " You said "; the ver...

Hello, Paidion, Thank you for your response. (aleph) Pardon: would you state, then, that Jesus is God, or not? (beth) If Jesus is an integral sharer in deity, how shall we explain his wanting people to view only a part of deity as "all in all," and not the fullness of deity? Shalom, Emmet
