Re: How Important is Our Brain as a Christian?

Darin and Dwight, I do not disagree with either of your replies, however, we must be careful about engaging in mean spirited "word wars" of which I haven't always been innocent. I would ask both of you to explain what practical distinction you see in the various beliefs concerning the Trinity that h...

Re: How Important is Our Brain as a Christian?

If the Gospel is not simple enough to be understood by those of a simple mind then God has not provided for the salvation of all mankind. What is mandatory to know in order to be saved? We read in the scriptures of the conversion of thousands (Day of Pentecost) and then just one (the Ethiopian eunuc...

Re: How Important is Our Brain as a Christian?

From David Bercot's "Dictionary of early Christian Beliefs": "...to the early Christians, the heart of their faith consisted of an obedient love relationship with Christ, not the ability to articulate dogma." "The early church concentrated chiefly on the nature of Christian living because the essent...

Re: The Deity of Jesus

Darin, You wrote: If I have a photo and send it to a friend whose never seen me and he says I don't know what you look like, I might say if you've seen that photo, you've seen me. We have a son who lives about 70 miles from us. If my son is having a conversation about me with a friend and his friend...

Re: God and the Word of God

Darin, You might be surprised to know I am heartily in agreement with you on this: I think Trinitarians have lost their reverence for and focus on the glory of the Father it and tend to worship Jesus more than the Father. Although where I have attended church prayer is directed to the Father (as is ...

Re: Christology of Polycarp, Ignatius, and Justin Martyr

Darin, From the source you referenced: Ignatius to the Ephesians 7.22 (Long Recension) But our Physician is the only true God, the unbegotten and unapproachable, the Lord of all, the Father and Begetter of the only-begotten Son. We have also as a Physician the Lord our God, Jesus the Christ, the onl...

Re: God and the Word of God

Well, the perspicuity of scripture has been shown to be a false idea; The reformers were wrong.

There is nothing in the scriptures that can not be explained away, if you try hard enough. Some say we need someone to tell us what the scriptures mean. Looks like we need a Pope.

Christology of Polycarp, Ignatius, and Justin Martyr

From Stack Exchange: The following are quotes from Bishops and apologists of the early church and a few were first or second generation disciples of the Apostles themselves. As such it is very easy to deduce that, not only did they have a large audience and impact, but they represent the teachings o...

Re: God and the Word of God

It seems that if John was not plain enough to be understood in what he wrote about The Word then it is not necessary to be believed and is only a curiosity.
