Re: Satan and that Ezekiel Passage

TK, I just read the sermon you posted. He just gives the standard view of the fall of Satan and uses the same old proof texts. There's nothing even remotely new there. I call this "going beyond what is written." What he says very well may be true, but we have no way of knowing. He, like most preache...

Re: Is Theism Rational?

As is often pointed out, some of the most educated people don't know how to think. I've read both Hitchens and Dawkins and have seen them debate many, many times. In one particular debate (on the BBC, I think) Dawkins was debating with the host of the show and I thought he got creamed. The man he wa...

Re: Isaiah 14:12-17

Re: Isaiah 14:12-17

I believe the Rabbis all held that Isaiah 14 was speaking of Satan. Though I find ancient opinions useful, I agree with Matt on this one. It seems to be speaking to the King of Babylon and not "the spirit behind the throne."

Re: Is Satan's 1st Sin even Possible?

I'm slowly starting to take the position that is sometimes called the "Cosmic Warfare" view. We do have some data on Satan and the demons that help us out. For example, we know that some angels rebelled and will be judged at a given time. That means the angelic realm must have been created with free...

Re: Hello!

I first met Steve at a pie eating contest, which I clearly won. He then accused me of being "a total newb" as well as "eschatologically challenged." I told him that was nonsense and then googled "eschatological" because I had idea what it meant. That led me to some of his MP3s and I became a fan. Or...

Re: Hello!

Christopher, your room is the one marked "Moderator." Sorry, I had to use crayons since Steve G said printed signs were not "environmentally friendly." :geek:

Re: New Forum

Checking in. This is like moving into a new home and you don't know where everything is located just yet. Meanwhile, I think I'll park my couch over there. 8-)
