How do new genes evolve?

At Stated Clearly we've recently finished a new animation on how new genes evolve. I think this will be of particular interest here as many of you, including Steve Gregg during our debate a few years back, have been asking how this happens. In the past I've responded by sending people scientific pap...

Re: How do we define science?

I was trying to make room for something like mathematical science Okay, that makes sense. I see math as a strict type of logical reasoning, nothing more. It can help us decide how observable data can be best fit together but I wouldn't consider mathematical conclusions to be on par with observable ...

Re: How do we define science?

I can't count how many times the more media-friendly scientists, when they give a speech, start encroaching upon philosophical grounds, something science should simply never ever do, nor has any justification for doing. I have no problem with a scientist who also explores philosophy. There is no pr...

Re: How do we define science?

I think in any definition of science it is of paramount importance to be clear, that science makes no claims to absolute truth or reality I don't think a short definition of science needs to say this but a good discussion of science certainly should. The definition I'm working on will go in a video...

How do we define science?

Two years ago in my debate I presented a definition for science that I've been refining ever since. I think I'm getting close to having a good one. I'm curious what your thoughts are: Science: the search for and documentation of verifiable facts, and an ongoing conversation about how those facts can...

Re: Evidence for Evolution - Final video and new website des

PR, Your misconceptions about the fossil record and about how science works are both very common. Once we are finished with our current set of animations on genetics, we actually have plans to produce a series explaining what science is, as well as the differences between facts, theories, laws, and ...

Re: Evidence for Evolution - Final video and new website des

Haha, Project Steve is great. Thanks for reminding me of that morbo3000. 100s of millions of incredibly diverse life forms would have to be "evolving" more or less side by side at the same time Yep, speciation happens in a pattern of exponential growth. Here's a tree of life you can explore: http://...

Re: Evidence for Evolution - Final video and new website des

What exactly is your question that I have failed to answer? is it this one? I assume you're familiar with old-earth creationism? If so, I already answered that question in the second paragraph of my Nov 02, 2015 9:24 pm post in this discussion thread. If that's not the unanswered question you want m...
