Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"
For Singalphile too, About God having the description of "Father", even before the incarnation of the second person of the Godhead, Jesus the Son; we have Adam who was called "The son of God" in the day of his creation, as in the genealogy of Luke 3:38, "...the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the so...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate
Singlefile, was this Logos/Son senscient in your opinion? In what sense can it be seen as a person, scripturally? What form did it have pre-incarnation and post-incarnation? I know you don’t have all the answers, but I’m curious how you see it. Yeah, I don't think I can explain my views. I wouldn't...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"
Hi Singalphile, Regarding the question of how God could be called a "Father" before Jesus the incarnate Son was conceived, and later "begotten" in heaven as the First-born from among the dead: Wouldn't God's creation of the "sons of God" (the angels who sang together for joy when the earth was crea...

Re: Who Is Worshipped?
In my experience, it's always been kind of evenly split, I think.
Along the lines of the king/prince illustration, I can't imagine a father being upset or jealous about any adoration given to his uniquely beloved and obedient son. (Not that anyone said anything like that.)

Re: The Holy Spirit: Person or Power?
My thinking is similar to darinhouston's in this thread. Some thoughts (some of which were already mentioned in this thread): 1. I affirm that the Spirit is God and is not an impersonal power. (Likewise, the Son is God and the Father is God.) 2. I suppose that I have a spirit and I would refer to my...

Re: Proverbs 30, and Jesus' pre-incarnate "sonship"
I began to consider the possibility that Jesus, before His birth, was "the Word" who was also God, but that the title "Son of God" did not apply to Him until He was born of God through the womb of Mary." If that is the case, would it follow that the title of "the Father" didn't apply to the Father ...

Re: When was the Trinity revealed?
Trinity doctrine has tainted much in Christianity unfortunately. How so, JamesFrench? I think there's a sectarian ("hairetikos" in the Greek, as in Titus 3:10 ) attitude that has tainted Christianity, but it's not the fault of trinitarianism per se, which is actually a pretty restrained theory, I t...

Re: Where have all the demons gone?
Those are some interesting ideas in there, 3Resurrections (though I admit that I can't follow a lot of it). I have considered that at least Satan has been taken out of this world (into the abyss) since about AD 70, as symbolically described in Revelation 20. I suppose the beast and false prophet, wh...
