Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
Dear backwoodsman. I have reread our correspondence, and am of the opinion that it was you who were being combative. I have been quick to apologize where I have over stepped the mark with others (and I have).

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
It's not up to me what you do, but it would save people like me time and effort if you would actually fairly read both sides first. That's a pretty snippy comment. I am pretty well read in this area, though it's been a while -- I don't recall the works of Walt Brown (at least the name association) ...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
I can boil a pot of oats and cook it, or I can leave it out overnight without cooking, and the result is the same. Huh?! They can be soaked or boiled -different processes, same result. If you're not understanding me, then maybe you should read a reputable scientist like Walt Brown - whose book is a...

Re: Compiling of the New Testament
There is no such thing as "basic and major doctrines". This is a fallacy of many protestants. What about Justin Martyr, who tells us that Christians disagreed over the millennium, or Irenaeus who tells us that Christians disagreed over where the dead go, or Africanus and Melito who disagreed over t...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
I think you fail to appreciate that the CS is not arguing that a gradual model would not produce the same results, but that other factors could lead to a rapid production of the same results. In other words, there are not separate models of how long it takes under different pressures etc. The questi...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
[ An objective look at true science always points to God; atheistic evolutionists can't accept that, so they twist the science until it fits their belief system. Many young-earth creationists confuse that twisted misrepresentation with the real science, and mistakenly conclude that science can't be...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
"Rabid YECs" I didn't mean to imply that all YECs are "rabid." I apologize if that is how my statement was taken. Some are, just as there are rabid OECs. I certainly don't consider myself a rabid OEC, I just lean in that direction. The universe doesn't seem 20,000 years old to me, but then again, I...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
I pretty much agree with what steve7150 wrote in response to this. I agree with you that if we had no scientific knowledge and we just read Genesis 1 then of course it would give us the idea that the universe was created in a 6 day time period (and perhaps not very long ago). I don't have a problem...

Re: Reasons to Believe - RTB old earth
So, anyone who disagrees with you isn't being honest, or isn't capable of making an honest assessment? Very convenient, if you want to be sure you never have to examine your beliefs. If someone doesn't acknowledge that the traditional interpretation is the most natural way of taking the text, then ...
