Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Real quick, Darin, as I gotta run... But, when I, in my last post, was stating what the doctrine of the Trinity says, I was... 1.) Simply stating what it SAYS (at least according to traditional Catholic theology). 2.) NOT giving a Scriptural defense of the doctrine (I can do that another time, but I...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Hi, Paidion, et al.-- Thank you for your response. Some Q's in reply... First, why is it that you think the Holy Spirit is "the Holy Spirit is not A person, but THE persons of the Father and the Son, extended into the hearts and minds of God's children"? What Scriptures are you looking at in support...

Re: Did Jesus Drink Alcohol?

Excellent response from Steve, there. The key with alcohol, as with many things, is moderation, exercising the virtue of temperance. If used with moderation, such drinks as wine are good for the body and the soul. The fact that Jesus Himself drank wine and chose, for his very FIRST miracle, the chan...

Re: when Jesus died - what actually died?

Thanks, Paidion, for the kind words and for the explanation. God bless you.

I have some follow-up ideas, but I'll save those for the other thread on the Holy Spirit.

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Hmmm, Darin, I guess I might be a little confused on what your (and Paidion's?) assertion is with regard to the Holy Spirit. So, let's back-track a bit... First, are we in agreement that, whatever and whoever the Holy Spirit is, that He has a mind? Secondly, are we in agreement that, whatever and wh...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Ah, I posted my last comment while Paidion was posting his last comment (so my last comment is in ref to Paidion's SECOND to last comment....unless if he's posting another one right now! ;))

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Thanks, Paidion, for that information and commentary. Before looking more at your (Paidion's) interpretation of this verse (as well as looking at other verses), are we in agreement that the Holy Spirit IS a person (it's simply a question of whether or not He is distinct from the Father and the Son)?...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Also, just one other thing... While there have been a number of good questions as to why certain things about the Holy Spirit are NOT revealed in Scripture (things that one might ordinarily expect if the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person), and those questions, at some point, might be useful to address ...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Hi Darin and all, Thanks for the reply, Darin. It seems to me, though, that there's a difficulty in sayingn that the Holy Spirit is, essentially, the same person as the Father (if one agrees that the Spirit is a person): how would we deal with the fact that Scripture sure seems to treat the Father a...

Re: The Divine Genius of the Trinity

Yes, as Otherness most fittingly said: Happy Father's Day to Our Most Loving Heavenly Father (He who is our one true Father, the source of all fatherhood)! And blessed Trinity Sunday to all my fellow Trinitarians! In Christ, the Son of the Father, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, BrotherAlan
