Re: Who are you planning to vote for?

I think voting conservative is a good idea and that's what I support. However, I can't stand all the one-sided retoric coming from the right. The left is demonizing mccain in like manner. The right says obama wants to kill babies and the left says mccain wants to kill your children, wives and husban...

Re: Fireproof

I saw this film as well and thought it was a profound and bold statement on marriage and also pornography addiction. Although Kirk Cameron gave a great performance, the rest of the cast could have been replaced with cardboard cut-outs and nothing would've been lost. Some of the lead actors (the doct...

Re: NT Wright on the Rapture

Darin, I've heard Tom Wright speak on this subject quite a bit as well. His view is the same as Steve Gregg's view from what I've gathered. In other words, the rapture, judgement and resurrection all take place on The Last Day. I think when Wright critiques "the rapture" he's just using the term the...

Re: Theistic Evolution and Francis Collins

Rick, I'm finding that nearly all of the evangelicals that work in the field of biology hold to theistic evolution, at least all the ones who write books. Collins and Polinghorne argue a very good case from science, but a very poor case from scripture. I don't hold a liberal view on this subject but...

Re: Theistic Evolution and Francis Collins

i agree they would have taken it literally. but would moses' original audience have been able to comprehend a theory of "theistic evolution?" (assuming collins is correct?) Good point. I highly doubt it but Collins might counter that by saying they wouldn't necessarily need to know about evolution ...

Re: Theistic Evolution and Francis Collins

Tk, Francis Collins is a Christian apologist and you can find many of his lectures on youtube. However, he's very respected among secular scientists as he heads up the Human Genome Project. He was responsible for mapping the human genome (which is now complete) and his work is revolutionary in the f...

Re: Theistic Evolution and Francis Collins

TK, yes. Francis Collins is an evangelical Christian and believes God chose to create human brings through the process of evolution. He isn't sure whether Adam and Eve were allegorical figures or the first beings to transition from animals into humans. In most respects he teaches classical Darwinian...

Theistic Evolution and Francis Collins

Does anyone here share the view that Francis Collins holds? I find it difficult to argue against his position of evolution through divine providence. Not that I agree with him, but all the philisophical arguments against evolution deal with the fact that natural origins for life are not possible. We...

Re: Now, About that Leviathan

I once heard Greg Boyd say that he thought Leviathan was a reference to something in the demonic realm. Personally, I think it's referring to an animal that doesn't exist anymore. Have you ever seen a Cuddle Fish stalk it's prey? It's the most incredible thing. The fish's entire body starts flickeri...

Re: It's A Thin Line Between Love and Hate...

Paidion, what do you make of Paul's exhortation to Timothy in verse 6 of his second epistle? I think I recall you having a problem interpreting "the writings" Paul spoke of as the OT. Since Timothy had a Jewish mother, she probably taught him concerning the law and prophets. His father was Greek but...
