Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

AVoice, You keep saying the grammar is incompetent. Looking at the Greek words and their English translations in an interlinear or Young's Literal translation I fail to see the problem you claim is there. In fact it seems straightforward to me. Adultery is a legitimate cause for divorce. Absent adu...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

If there are any viewing this thread who have the patience to listen to practical reason as it pertains to this topic, the following is valuable to the discussion. I will answer Homer and Matt with short clear responses and questions when I have time, before too long. The two positions are very oppo...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

Yeah, I stopped responding for 2 reasons 1. I'm actually on vacation 2. I responded to each supposed 'deficiency' and you just ignore or disagree with those responses. What else is there to say? There were numerous questions I asked that you made no effort whatsoever to directly answer. The same wi...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

The question I'm asking now is that if there were any way that the betrothal model does not work grammatically, then please let that be known. The grammar fits perfectly in Matt 5;32 and 19;9 when the betrothal model is applied. I don't recall this being the issue. Matt has agreed that the wording ...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

AVoice, I agree with your objection that this thread has been sidetracked from its original intent. However, you may have to resign yourself to the possibility that this topic has been played out and no one has convinced anyone else. The fact that many here do not seem to find your exegetical argum...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

Dorian, I would like for you to clearly state what Steve's issues are so that I may make an objective determination about him. Hi Sean, This thread has gotten completely off topic. How about offering to everyone to start a new thread where Steve is the focus and so allow this thread to get back on ...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

AVoice, I find you have posted 48 times at our forum. Strikingly, this is the only thread on which I can find anything from you. Are you a one-subject guy? If so, it is sad, because in 48 attempts, you have failed to make a case that open-minded, thinking Christians can find convincing. Maybe you o...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

AVoice, The word ‘absolute’ is not actually correct if you are to describe my genre of reading what Jesus meant. It would be more correct to say I read it in a manner where the actual meanings of the words used are allowed to apply. I can scarcely believe you would make that claim. Any lexicon will...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

If initiating a divorce is sinful as you say it is, then you have Jesus saying that that certain sinful act is OK. What other act can you find Jesus saying is OK even though it is sinful? Did you mean to say "initiating a divorce [unless it is for adultery, abandonment or any other among the list t...

Re: The deficiency of the assumption that Jesus allows divorce

It being essential simply means that it is absolutely necessary to exist in order for the message to be correct. If the 4 scriptures are all quoted without the two exception clauses, then the message would be entirely different than when the exception clause is present. No. I would interpret the 4 p...
