Dispensationalist Question: Gentile-Converts to Jews

A question that was asked to me recently, that I have yet to ask a Dispensationalist, is I was wondering what is the take for a pre-millenial, pre-trib rapture, with "God dealing with the unbelieving Jews separately," at the end of the world, after the rapture... in this mindset, my question is: wil...

Re: Why get emotional about eschatology?

Matthew 24 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. So, Remade, the coming of Jesus on the clouds of heaven and great glory is just figurativ...

Re: Why get emotional about eschatology?

In Jesus' talk in Matthew 24, he says in verses 30 and 31 that everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, and that he will send his angels to gather his elect from everywhere. Did that happen before that generation passed away? If you're truly interested and open to the possib...

Re: Why get emotional about eschatology?

Doesn't this address when? Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Phil Interesting thing, as I am addressing this very statement in my sermon this coming week. I will merely say look up Acts 2:5 ; C...

Re: Why get emotional about eschatology?

Timios wrote: I have read a commentary on this verse that says that the Greek word for "generation" can refer to people of the same stock or family, or even of a whole nation. Could the word "generation" here refer to the whole Jewish nation? Commentaries aside, I would encourage people to read the...

Why get emotional about eschatology?

I grew up under parents who were big Left Behind fans, and little did I know (or as it turns out, little did my parents know) that we assumed dispensationalism as the only view viable for eschatology. (I don't think any of us knew what those two big terms were, nor that we were believers in dispensa...

Re TIMIOS - Word for Word Description

I have heard that there are case endings in Greek and also in Latin. So for example, a single word in Greek or Latin with a certain case ending might mean "of the man". So there's no way of translating that Greek or Latin word with a single English word. It takes three English words to translate it...

Re: Preferred Bible Translation

As I understand it, when translating from one language to another, there is no such thing as a "word for word" translation. For some words must be translated into several words in the other language and vice versa. "Word for Word" translation philosophy, also known as "Literal translation," seeks t...

Preferred Bible Translation

I've been reading articles on Bible translation philosophy, and what most consider the "most accurate word-for-word" translation is. Much to my surprise, according to two sources so far, the "BEST" word-for-word is deemed the New American Standard Bible followed closely by, wait for it, the AMPLIFIE...
