Re: Did the Father address His Son as “God”?

Hey, Paidion-- I'm off retreat now (had a good, grace-filled retreat and, as promised, I prayed for you and all on this forum, and hope you all prayed for me, as pray is what keeps us all united to Christ). Yes, I think you are correct on this one (with respect to Hebrews 1:8). I have consulted a co...

Re: Divine Simplicity

Darin, Thank you for replying. First, to answer your last question: "What do you mean when you say that charity is the first commandment?" I am simply referring to Christ's words which state that the first and greatest commandment is to love God, and the second is like to it: loving one's neighbor. ...

Re: Did the Father address His Son as “God”?

Very interesting, Paidion. While I am hardly an expert in Greek, I did take a basic formal introductory course on Biblical Greek, and was taught that the nominative can be used for the vocative; but, you are saying that you were not able to find any examples of this? Hmm...I'd like to research this ...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

BTW, I know there are a lot of questions that have been thrown out which we would do well to continue to address (some of them directed to me). I'll be away from the internet for a week (going on a retreat, actually; pray for me, as I'll pray for all of you on retreat), but, when I retreat, I hope I...

Re: Homosexuality

Man, that was an AWESOME response from Steve there! REALLY good! Covered pretty much all the bases in such a clear, logical, and, above all, Scriptural manner. God bless you, Steve! I suppose the only things I would add (not correct, but add) are: 1.) In addition to Eve (the wife) being a helpmate t...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Paidion, Two possible reasons for why the Scriptures refer to baptizing in the name of Jesus: 1.) That phrase, "baptizing in the name of Jesus", means baptizing by the authority given them by Christ. 2.) Besides the Trinitarian formula, this was an alternative formula. I think #1 is more probable. I...

Re: Presto Chango!

Hello, Homer— Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to read and consider the material I presented in my last reply. God bless you. By the way, before I forget, I will soon be on a week-long silent retreat, and, so, if you respond to this, and I don’t respond ba...

Re: The Holy Spirit - a person??

Paidion,
Thanks for the reply, brother.

In response to the opinion that My. 28:19 is a later addition, I found this one article (among others) giving counter-evidence. Let me know what you think of this: https://carm.org/is-matthew-28-19-a-later-addition

Re: Divine Simplicity

Darin, We absolutely do not need sarcastic and rude statements like that. "Charity", the first commandment for the Christian, "is not rude." This is an honest discussion about the meaning of the Scriptures, and, at the very least, a humble mind would acknowledge that the doctrine of the Trinity has ...
