Re: “What is a good question to ask a Mormon?” by a mormon.

I've always been somewhat confounded by the acceptance by the Mormon church of Joseph Smith's translation of the "Book of Abraham". In my opinion, any objective look at the facts would disqualify it as an accurate translation, and Mr Smith as a prophet of God. I won't rehash the story, you can read ...

Re: What is included in the atonement?

Re: Medi - Share

The only downside that I see is that prexisting conditions are not covered for a certain period of time. That can be a problem for those who have one.

But this is true with most individual health insurance policies, and conversely the main advantage of group health insurance coverage.

Re: How to Discuss Hell with Others?

"Don't want to sound disrespectful but many sincere people truly will swear to have been taken up on spaceships and returned." Maybe I didn't explain my question very well... On one of the videos, a man who is an Atheist professor at UC Berkley, has a near death experience, finds himself in what he ...

Re: How to Discuss Hell with Others?

I've seen some sincere people give testimonies about experiencing death and hell. Here's a couple on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGQDkCi-OIY&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vj0qKthCgg&feature=related I can't easily dismiss what these people claim. And their experience see...

Re: Taxes and Love Gifts

Here's how we understand the IRS code on this topic at our church: A contribution given directly to an individual through the church is not tax deductible. If the individual receives contributions for a church sponsored ministry or mission (such as a mission trip); or is a missionary receiving funds...

Re: Best books on Church Hustory

I found the work of David Bercot very helpful. His journey through the early church writings eventually led him to the Anabaptist church.

Steve in JAX last week

I had the pleasure to sit in on Steve's teaching session at YWAM Jacksonville last Thursday. It was a real pleasure to finally meet Steve and hear him teach in person. The topic that day was "Cultivation of Christian Character", which was following by a related teaching on Christians and suffering. ...
