Re: Get yourself a new heart?

seer, you asked. You are missing the point. Can a man, in his natural state, choose to love and obey God? Without God doing a prior work, drawing the man? A man in his natural state does not seek God though the evidence that is around him e.g. the earth, stars, life, etc, but man does know there is ...

Re: Eph. 1:4 and a note by Ben Witherington III

From what I understand of the long sentence, which actually starts on vs 3 and goes through 14, is actually speaking of the Son who is elect. The US isn't individuals, but the community e.g. the church. The church is predestined from the foundation, not the individuals within the church.

Get yourself a new heart?

I have been trying to get someone to explain to me this verse in light of the theory of total depravity? Ezekiel 18: 30 "Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your do...

Re: Faith without Hope?

True Paidion, there is something about Jesus... He is God incarnate God incarnate? What do you mean by "God"? Is He the Father who clothed Himself with human flesh? Jesus prayed to His Father as to another person. Once He prayed, "This is eternal life, that they may know You the only true God AND J...

Re: Faith without Hope?

Let's look at the account of the first disciples and how they came to be disciples: As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fi...

Re: Faith without Hope?

I think the problem disappears when we see that we are saved by neither faith nor hope. The commonly-quoted Ephesians 2:8 does not say that we are saved by faith but that we are saved through faith. Romans 8:24 does not say that we are saved by hope, but that we are saved in hope. Ok, first by grac...

Re: Faith without Hope?

I was thinking along the lines of Romans 8:23-24 And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruit of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope; for what anyone sees, why...

Faith without Hope?

Can someone be saved by faith and have no hope?

If no, what does this do to faith alone?

if yes, what does this say about a true living faith?
