Acts 13:48

Consider: 44 The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. 46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the ...

Harden Whom He Wills

Just a leaning-Classical Arminian throwing out a verse... note at before the text firstly talked about in Romans 9:18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills. So do we believe that? And if we believe that God hardens whomever He wills, what does that have to do wi...

Re: A Cultural-Christian Terse Rejection to Theology?

I posted this question on Facebook too, to a few of my Christian buddies, and I like what one replied: I would change it slightly "If one is truly heavenly minded, one becomes of earthly good." I do meet people who turn every topic into a conversation with supernatural ramifications.Example: ME: "My...

A Cultural-Christian Terse Rejection to Theology?

I've heard the saying at times given "You're so heavenly minded that you're of no earthly good." Is this true, valid?

What do you think is meant by "heavenly minded?"

Re: Jesus Refers Positively to a Passage of David's Sin?

Paidon -

I know that Paul preaches a sanctified life, capable of sinlessness.

This doesn't mean in my own life that I cannot really identify with Romans 7 at times, because I can. It means that I need to press on, and work out my faith in fear and trembling, striving to live the Romans 8 life.

Re: Jesus Refers Positively to a Passage of David's Sin?

Steve said: The fact that [Rahab] took sides with God's people is what makes her worthy of commendation. There were other things in her life that are not commended. Interesting observation. Sometimes we Christians become Pharisaical and instruct those around us to run through proverbial maze like ra...

Jesus Refers Positively to a Passage of David's Sin?

I am studying I Samuel on my own, and I'm coming across the familiar passage of David and the showbread ( I Samuel 21 ). In the NT, Jesus obviously refers to this account as lawful description of David receiving food meant for the priests ( Matt 12:1-8; Mark 2:23-28 ). I was wondering though... I kn...

Re: Praying for the Devil

Heard this passage in a sermon, and it reminded me of this topic: For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment ( 2 Peter 2:4 ESV ) I will make the remark that in it's context, Peter is using th...

Re: Praying for the Devil

I agree Jaydam. Steve, I believe Jesus was (A) talking to disciples on planet earth (B) referring to human persecutors. I do not know where, nor do I see in the Bible, or in Christian history that we are to equate the race of angels/demons with the race of humanity. I think it is to be make the same...
