Re: Would Steve take Hank's Job?

Thanks so much for responding to my wanderings Steve. I think it'd be neat, if Hank were decide to fade himself out of the BAM broadcast, to have a series of 'guest hosts' and see which one's were most well received. Of course, personally, I prefer your style, you may be right that it doesn't appeal...

Re: Would Steve take Hank's Job?

It's a hypothetical :) I'm interested in the process Steve would use to make such a decision, especially because we know that he says 'yes' to almost all ministry invitations. Would he automatically say 'no' b/c of some aspect of CRI? Would he automatically say 'yes' b/c it is a chance to minister t...

Would Steve take Hank's Job?

I thought of a question on my way home from my Houghton Program today. Don't know why. But anyways, I was wondering... If Hank retired from the Bible Answer Man show, and the Christian Research Institute came asking Steve to be the new Bible Answer Man...would he take the job? Should he? Would it be...

Re: Caller re: Billy Graham & Destiny of the Unevangelized

This is actually one of my favorite topics to discuss b/c it really brings up a lot of theological and practical issues. I guess with the definitions given I'd be a 'hard-inclusivist.' I'd emphasize that being 'unevangelized is not 'another way' to be saved. If some unevangelized people are saved it...

Re: Women in 1 Timothy (Could Steve respond?)

Steve, Thanks so much for taking the time to thoroughly respond to Ken's position. I think Ken Schenk is a good solid theologian for the most part. But he does, at the very least, give a lot of time to liberal arguments that, in my opinion, don't always deserve time. In this case, I think he is tryi...

Re: Hey, mattrose! I read your blog...

Oh, haha. Thanks. I just posted it in 'announcements' and then saw your thread here :) Thanks very much! I'll delete that thread. When Steve came to WNY in July, I told him I was hoping to ask Katie very soon. Busyness delayed things longer than I had hoped, but I was finally able to ask and we set ...

Randy Maddox' book is titled 'Responsible Grace: John Wesley's Practical Theology'

In one of the courses I'm taking right now, we are responsible for reading 7 texts on Wesleyan Theology. I've read 4 or 5 of them so far and that one is the best.

Re: John Wesley

I'll share some of, what I consider, his most interesting one-liners "Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn." "Beware you be not swallowed up in books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of knowledge" "When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a...

Re: The Origin of Original Sin

Matt, Your Wesley post led me to look into thoughts from the Eastern {Greek Orthodox} Fathers. The Greek Fathers, though they are also admired in the Roman Catholic tradition, varied from Augustine, and the Western Church by extension, on soteriology. In fact, the Orthodox seem basically "Wesleyan,...
