Re: 3 crosses

Salvation has always been based on only one thing, Faith. Since we aren't saved by our own works, I don't see how a criminal could be saved by the works of the Roman's putting him on the right/left side of Jesus. Luke's doesn't state which side each thief was on but all the Gospels state Christ was ...

Re: Leaving a Church

I struggled with this as well. I changed my mindset on "attending a church" or not attending a church to "being the church". This helps me no matter where I end up on Sunday as well as the rest of the week.

Re: Some Hard Questions

You may want to ask a little different questions. "Why do you think you need to know these kinds of questions?" His answer may give some insight to what is really concerning him. I find these kind of questions interesting to discuss but I'm not really sure they are vital for understand how God wants...

Re: So, the Manhattan Declaration...

I not sure I would ever support the Church imposing laws on society. A real Christian society doesn't need laws since God's law is written on our hearts. A non-Christian society will find a way to work around any law. I think the purpose of the Church is to offer any society an alternative to what i...

Re: So, the Manhattan Declaration...

While I agree with the sentiment, I wouldn't sign it. Until "the church" starts living these principles itself I don't see any reason to try to impose them on others or speak out for them. If you do the math most of the people assaulting these principles claim to Christians. I can't remember the sou...

Re: Need some advice!

I think the Bible is pretty clear but I'm unclear how to apply it to today. Mathew 18 Go to your brother individually - You did Go to your brother with 2 or 3 - probably not necessary since he din't sin against you Go to the church elders - You did If he fails to hear the church, (which it sounds li...

What a new christian should read first?

I know I have seen a thread on advice a new christian should read first in the bible. But I can't seem to find it. Every word I type in the the search field is too common and ignored. Can anyone point me to the thread or re-advise? My 77 year old father is thinking about reading the Bible, which is ...
