Re: How to determine real life prophets

But I also believe, based on scripture, that if someone is a true prophet he will be 100% accurate Have you ever encountered such a prophet? And if not, does that mean that there are no true prophets at the present time? Was Jonah a false prophet? He announced, "Yet 40 days and Ninevah will be over...

Re: Left Behind......sheesh!

TK you have found my quandary. I don’t really care about their eschatology as much as I want to help them with their fear about the end times or the fear that pops up almost daily whenever there is a war/earthquake/flood/dictator-who-is-soon-to-be-the-antichrist.

Re: Christians and Politics

"Earthly matters" such as partial-birth infanticide are also "Kingdom of God" matters! This is true. Which is why Christians shouldn't get abortions and American Christians shouldn’t vote for people who advocate them. But since 80ish% of Americans consider themselves Christian; I think we are focus...

Re: Holiness Doctrines - Leviticus 19

There are generally two ways to look at Old Testament laws. 1) Under the new covenant we are free from all the old covenant laws except where Jesus (NT) specifically stated otherwise. 2) All the old covenant laws are still in effect unless Jesus (NT) specifically stated otherwise. I tend toward the ...

Re: Gluttony

Mark 7:15 there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man. (NASB) Here is what might be a "worst case" of sinful eating: I'm not sure this story points to "sinful eating" as much as it describes sinful unl...

Re: Christians and Politics

Interesting article.

I tend to think that any Christian activist group that focuses on earthly matters more the Kingdom of God is missing the big picture.

Re: Gluttony

Thanks for the search Darin, There are a lot more references than I would have thought, but none really jump out and say "Thou shall not be a Glutton".

Re: How to determine real life prophets

I like Steve’s definition as stated earlier. But I also believe, based on scripture, that if someone is a true prophet he will be 100% accurate, which in my mind excludes the prophecy group from KC and men like Joseph Smith. I believe all the gifts of the Spirit are valid until Christ’s return. But ...
