Re: When Were The "12" Regenerated?
Darinhouston, You might want to pickup GOD'S INDWELLING PRESENCE: THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE OLD & NEW TESTAMENTS, JAMES M. HAMILTON, JR. (AUTHOR). It explains this and a lot more. I would have asked about anyone prior to Christ's resurrection or what about the Old Testament saints? Here is a guy who as...

Re: Calvinism and Universalism
Steve7150, You said, "There is nothing in scripture warning us to stop and go no further is there? In fact Paul commended the Bereans for searching the scriptures." I didn't mean it like that. I meant it in the sense that people begin to make this their main thing of study and become consumed by it ...

Re: Calvinism and Universalism
Also does anyone allow for mystery on this topic? Christ had two natures, His divine and His mortal human. Yet we accept this mystery and dig into the Bible only so far. We can't understand everything about it, but we can apprehend it from scripture. So what parts, if possible, could there be myster...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
Sean, I agree, Pink does assume total depravity. However the book is called "the Attributes of God", so it didn't get into total depravity. Also I did say Adam had free will, before the fall. Adam was made good, and with the ability to choose right from wrong because he was lacking a sin nature befo...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
In Acts 13:48 we have a "periphrastic" construction. Grammatically, a periphrastic (to be + particle) is to be taken as a single unit. ἦσαν = εἰμί (eimi) - “to be” -3rd person, imperfect, active, indicative, plural. τεταγμένοι = τάσσω (tassw) - “To bring about an order of things by arranging; to det...

Re: Calvinism and Universalism
My understanding of Universalism is that Christ's death applied to all humanity. Therefore all are saved. So all who profess Christ or not, are all saved because Christ's sacrifice applies to all. Similarly, in Arminianism, Christ died for all, but His death only applies to those who believe. And Ca...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
Response 2 Cor 4 "3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." Steve you said, "The pass...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
This is for all sides. To accept an idea just because one cannot understand or answer another idea, should not be the reason why one idea is rejected. Human reasoning can have a part in the forming of what we believe. But this should not be! For the Bible is filled with mystery. And as people of fai...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
Darinhouston, John 6 40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." 41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, "I am the bread that came down out of heaven." 4...

Re: The Foreknowledge of God
I'll respond to the rest of your post Steve. Thank you for responding. That aside, I have been thinking about something, does the Bible ever teach why it is that man responds to the Gospel? Is it because man apart from God chooses Him? Man's reasoning? Intellect? Or, does the Bible teach that God is...
