Re: Paul's great omission
Hi Paidion, My pilgrimage was the reverse of yours. You began believing that Jesus was the “Son” due to His being born of a virgin, and you later reconsidered and settled on the traditional view that He was eternally begotten before all ages. By contrast, I began my life and ministry believing the t...

Re: Did Jesus Command His Apostles to Kill?
I am not seeing any reference to Jesus telling the apostles to kill anybody. There are no commands given to the apostles in this passage. The deaths of these rebels appears to correspond to the deaths of those in 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 and in Matthew 25:46.

Correspondence with a critic
This lady first wrote to me (along lines similar to the present missive) in 2016, and has written to me about once a year ever since. She has received much longer replies to her earlier communiqués than my reply to this one. This is one of her shorter messages, and one of my shorter replies. There m...

Re: The Last 12 verses of Mark
I am pasting below the section of my notes on the introduction of Mark's Gospel. This information is covered in my lecture series on Mark (I think the evidence, on balance, supports the long ending): Long or short ending? Short ending has Mark abruptly cut off with 16:8; long ending includes verses ...

The 500 who saw Jesus after the Resurrection
New correspondence today: Steve, I heard you discussing Paul's list of eye-witnesses including the famous 500 (1 Corinthians 15:6). I don't understand why this anonymous claim has any weight whatsoever. In point of fact it would not have been possible for Paul's readers,, scattered around the Roman ...

Re: Steve is a racist
In all fairness, this critic wrote me back pointing out that he, technically, did not call me a racist, and does not think that I am. I took some of his points and statements to indicate otherwise, but I may have misread his intentions. In any case, my discussion of the definition of racism remains ...

What is a racist? Am I?
This email I received may interest some of you: Wow Steve! Of all the white people that I encounter, listen to or admire you would’ve been the last one in my opinion to deny the overwhelming racism & police brutality that exists in America!!! I am very shocked at the response you gave about George F...

Re: Doug Wilson's "pennies"
Hi Paidion,
I suggest that there are too many things we do not know about the nature of time to know whether your logic is inevitable.

Re: Diug Wilson's "pennies"
Ah, yes! But that is your problem. You will or will not eat the apple as it pleases you and as you exploit the opportunity to do so, without outwork duress. If someone knows you will do such a thing, then it will indeed happen. If I know you will do it, that does not make me actively involved in you...

Doug Wilson's "pennies"
Doug Wilson’s “tossed pennies” illustration Steve, In your debate with Douglas Wilson on Calvinism, you affirmed that God knows the future decisions we will make, but does not determine them, because we have free will. Doug responded (quite reasonably, it seems to me) that if you had a handful of p...
