Re: Jesus is God

It is recorded in the New Testament that there are many persons other than the Father or the Son that people worship. But there is no point in my listing them, since you will simply reply that the ought not to be worshipped. So the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, was worshipped, in no way proves th...

Re: Jesus is God

God is Your throne? That doesn't even make sense. AH BUT IT DOES! According to Wikipedia: "Throne" in an abstract sense can also refer to the monarchy. Even in our day, in countries that have a king or a queen, someone may say, "Are you going to obey the throne, or do your own thing?" Yes, "God is ...

Re: Jesus is God

I have pointed out before that God is NOT addressing His Son as "God" in Hebrews 1:8. If He were, then the Greek word would be in the vocative case. But it's not; it's in the nominative case. Therefore, it is the subject, and should be translated "God is your throne." Most translators have it wrong....

Re: APEITHEO

The passages you quoted in no way prove that the word should be translated other than "not persuaded".

Even the Hebrew word "carar" that is used Isaiah 65:3 has been translated in several versions as "stubborn".
A person who is stubborn is one who has not been persuaded.

How Many Gods are there?

How Many Gods Are There? Every Christian I have encountered believes that there is one God only. Many believe that this one God exists as a Trinity of persons. However, all instances in the New Testament of the word θεος (god) preceded by the article (the God) and with no other modifiers, has as its...

Re: Jesus is God

But, why anyone would translate θειότης as "godhead" seems to me to be the ultimate in translation bias. It's better (and frequently) translated "godness" or "divinity" or "divine nature" - godhead implies something really loaded towards a plural God but is not in any way justified by context or hi...

Re: Acts 20:28 (God's own blood)

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the holy spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. (Acts 20:28) ...for I know that this shall turn out for me to salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the sp...

Re: Jesus is God

I can't say that I agree with your view that Jesus is God. Rather "God" in the verses I quoted refers to "God" in a generic sense. When referring to the only God, the article precedes the word "God". Without the article, "God" may refer to a divine being, who, although divine, is not "THE God". Jesu...

Re: God as Mediator

The earliest Christians taught that the first act of God was the begetting of the Son. So they said that Jesus was the only begotten God, for God the Father was unbegotten. Ignatius, born around A.D. 30 wrote in his letter to the Ephesians, Chapter XI these words concerning Christ: ..Christ, who was...
