What it Means to Believe in Christ

George MacDonald wrote: Let a man trust in [Christ’s] atonement to absolute assurance, if he does not do the things He tells him—the very things He said—he does not believe in Him. —What’s Mine’s Mine, Chapter XV, Page 103 Sixteen Commandments of Jesus 1. Do not get angry. (Matt 5:22) 2. Do not comm...

Re: How could "sola scripture" be correct?

Hi Paidon, Whether there are errors in the scriptures is of no concern regarding the point I was making. The point is that the scriptures and Catholic tradition are different categories. The scriptures do not change but the Catholics change their tradition. For example, time once was when papal inf...

Re: How could "sola scripture" be correct?

BrotherAlan, The scriptures are truth. Homer, isn't that statement a little too broad? For example, Jude wrote: It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all th...

Re: another bad trinitarian argument?

Similarly for myself—only the other way around. Since I became a non-Trinitarian, I have never found Trinitarian arguments a threat—only unpersuasive.

Re: another bad trinitarian argument?

I don't think anyone sees "The Trinity" (if it exists) as a threat. I didn't change my mind about it because I saw it as a threat. I changed my mind about it for two reasons. 1. I see no Biblical evidence that the Spirit of God is a divine Person who is Someone other than the Father and the Son. Tod...

Re: Asking for prayers?

I don't understand, Steve. If what we want is already God's will, why pray? Won't He accomplish it anyway just because He wills it? Here is a case in which it is recorded that Moses prayed for something contrary to God's will, and as a result of his prayer, God changed His mind: 9 The LORD said to M...

Re: another bad trinitarian argument?

Though I am no longer a Trinitarian, if I were one, I would use the very first verse of the Hebrew Bible for support. In the beginning ,אלהים created the heavens and the earth. אלהים transliterated is "elohiym" which is a plural word. Does this not imply that if the word is translated as "God" then ...

Re: Our “spirits”?

The animals go by the flesh; the difference between us and animals would seem to be the spirit we have in the image of God. How do you see us as different than animals? I think there are many differences between people and other mammals. I will mention only two. 1. There is a vast difference in int...

Re: Our “spirits”?

We say that a bicycle HAS two wheels, a frame, a seat, and handle bars. A bicycle Is not merely the totality of its parts. Merely dumping the parts together do not constitute a bicycle. Rather a bicycle is the totality of it parts in a particular relation. And in that relation, the bicycle functions...

Today I Made a Discovery

For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"? And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God’s angels worship him." Of the angels he says, "He makes his ang...
