Re: The Benedict Option

Thanks for taking the time to give us the synopsis, Matt. Some of what's in this book I have already thought about implementing or have already begun to implement in my life. It also sounds NOTHING like what its critics have made it out to be. I'll definitely be reading this at some point.

Re: To Marry or not to Marry?

I started a family somewhat later in life so I'll throw in my 2 cents. To make a long into story short, I was first married at 28 then she left the marriage no longer wanting to be in it. I honestly thought I'd never marry again nor ever want to marry again. Then I met my current wife! We married 1-...

Re: How nations disciple...

Thanks for the replies everyone The feedback was in such a different direction from where I was heading with these thoughts, that I don't really feel it's worth trying to steer it back on track. I didn't communicate well. No worries. God bless :) That's too bad. I thought this would be an interesti...

Re: How nations disciple...

America, through its personal freedoms and technological advances, affords individuals and families incredible opportunities for success, health, security and happiness. The Kingdom of God may ask you to forego such things, or, in some cases, define those things differently. Spiritual success, for i...

Re: Charlottesville, VA Turmoil

Dwight: The first article you cite is by Dara Lind. Some of her other articles are: "Donald Trump is Offering Comfort to Racists and Extremists" and "Joe Arpaio, the Anti-immigrant Sheriff" and "White House Officials are Terrified of What Trump will do on his Own" I was going to comment on using a ...

Every predication made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct;
nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record

Re: Christians, children and fantasy literature

I am not familiar enough with Harry Potter to be able to say what the purpose of the books may be. Since the author is no Christian, it is clear that the books were not written to promote Christian thought. I have always suspected that they may have been written to create a thirst for occult power ...

Re: The Vision of Peter in Acts 10:9-16

If I call someone disingenuous, I mean that they are not dealing forthrightly with the points presented to them, and are grasping at transparently invalid arguments in order to save their point from inevitable refutation. I didn't think you were insulting. Your above conclusion is how I saw Dwight'...

Re: The Vision of Peter in Acts 10:9-16

Hi Dwight, In your original post you said: Notice that the Lord's message to Peter through this vision has literally nothing to do with the idea that God is now allowing the Jews to eat unclean animals. This seems to be your thesis. No one, Jew or otherwise, is allowed to eat unclean animals. Then, ...

Re: The Days of Creation

As such, if someone with a contrary position to mine accuses me of political correctness, reinforcing unbelief, questions whether I am evangelical or protestant, tells me I am living in a dream world, and tells me I have destroyed the foundation of marriage, am I to interpret him as viewing our dif...
