The first Adam brought us the first death. Death to God, death to righteousness. The second Adam reverses the effects of the first Adam, bringing death to sin (and its bondage and corruption) and ultimately death to death itself. (Rom. 5, 1 Cor. 15) We, as followers of Christ, are to consider oursel...

Homer, I would see more in view than just whether the "building materials" are true converts. I would think that anyone who is attempting to help build God's house, whether it be trying to convert an unbeliever, or someone discipling an already converted person, or someone just lending a helping han...

Rick wrote: Many undoubtedly thought "I might become a Christian later" only to die before then or, otherwise, put it off till it was too late. Any number of rationalizations can be taken to procrastinate. Universalism offers a very convenient reason to put off believing: You can pay the price for ...

I agree that the verses you sited are judgment passages. As is Rev 20. The questions: 1) Are they in any sense purification as well as judgment. Is not the creation being purified when evil is judged? The creation may be, but in the above passages, it seems that it's being purifyed by the destructi...

Derek, I do not mind debating with you, as long as we keep it nice :) (and you always have!). But I do think you did not read what I said, or I poorly communicated it. I was NOT trying to make a case for believers going through the lake of fire. I said I did not know whether they did or did not. You...

Derek, Actually, as I stated, I think the interpretation you have of Mt 10:28 is the most likely. However, it just seems to me that people "assume" that it is God in view and it doesn't actually say that. I just wanted to consider another, although very small, possibility. Want to keep an open mind....

shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death It sounds like the lake of fire itself could be the second death. Fire can either purify or destroy and IMHO some may end up being purified and others may end up being destroyed from the LOF. How to y...

Derek, Some thoughts. First, I often hear Mt 10:28 quoted as proof that God (can or will) destroy the soul in gehenna. But the verse actually doesn't mention God as the one to fear. It seems that everyone quotes it as if it says that. But it just says fear "him" without specifying who he is. Now, I ...

Rick, I am sorry if my "cross-posting" offended you. And I will let the moderators decide if I need to be banned. (I suppose I could have asked you to be nice once on each thread :) ) BTW: I totally missed the straw-man allusion and thought you were implying that Danny, and/or any universalist, was ...
