You have the ability to believe and trust - correct? Yet every time you sin you fail to exercise this gift. YES i agree I have the ability to believe and trust in things! But that isnt faith, the ability to believe or trust in something isnt Faith. DOING SO (believing and trusting) is faith. NOT th...

This is where Calvinists get that this is the work of God (bolded statements esp). They read it in context with the rest of the passage/scripture. In a way you could say God causes belief. But we do believe, it is just that it has been predestined that we would believe and so who can resist God the...

But why would Jesus (God) command people to hear if they have ears? Or do they have ears because they have been given ears? Ears as u suggest only belong to those who listen to the Father (which could only be God's elect)

Re: John 6:29 and Calvinsim

When I debate Calvinists they say that John 6:29 means (especially in the Greek, they contend) that believing is the work of God. In other words, God causes belief. But when I read the passage in context with verses 27 & 28 it seems like we are asked to believe, and that is the only "work" required...

Um, Christ says things in parables always ending or most of the time ending them with saying, "Let those who have ears let them hear."

If one can figure out what that means, then it will show ur answer.

Of course faith is the ability to believe. It is illogical to suggest otherwise. But one must exercise this gift. Like I said - every time you sin you are failing to exercise said gift. Faith isnt an ability, it is BELIEVING in something we dont have full knowledge of (i.e. it is trust that somethi...
