Re: Flat Earth? Really?

My experience has been primarily with Christian flat-earthers who use numerous passages in the Bible to back up their position. I've seen lists of about 25 proof texts. The reason they could do so is that in ancient cosmology (the ANE era in which the Bible was written) the earth was flat, sitting o...

Re: Ezekiel 36:10, 36:24

There is no reliable way to trace ancestry to the southern tribes, so I'd suggest that the dispensationalists drop the whole thing.

Re: Ezekiel 36:10, 36:24

It seems proper to me that this was fulfilled in the New Covenant, and that just like all of the similar statements it has a spiritual fulfillment. But, if you were to make it a literal land promise, then it clearly says that the 10 scattered tribes are entitled to come back to the land at the fulfi...

Re: John 6:44

In my opinion, this passage is regularly misinterpreted due to a failure to understand the Apostalic implications and the particular moment in which the advice was given. Early in Jesus' ministry there were a number of people trying to become followers who were not marked out by God to do so. They d...

Re: Dispensationalist Question: Gentile-Converts to Jews

A question that was asked to me recently, that I have yet to ask a Dispensationalist, is I was wondering what is the take for a pre-millenial, pre-trib rapture, with "God dealing with the unbelieving Jews separately," at the end of the world, after the rapture... in this mindset, my question is: wi...

Re: An Arminian Piper / Driscoll / Sproul / Keller?

MacArthur is a perfect example of someone with tremendous public speaking ability, but who is not analytically smart enough to realize that he's teaching nonsense.

Re: An Arminian Piper / Driscoll / Sproul / Keller?

Part of the problem with the question is that only Calvinists see the issue as Calvinism vs. Arminianism. As a result, though Calvinists would blanket them with an in accurate label, the majority of the Southern Baptist organization, all of Calvary Chapel, and schools such as Dallas Theological Semi...

Re: Dispensationalist Question: Gentile-Converts to Jews

My bet is that as long as the person is a full fledged convert they would say that the person would be treated like any other Jew. Of course, there might be some lack of access to being one of the 144,000 (though the whole concept would be hard to implement in literal terms in 2017). The problem wou...

Re: Revelation 20:5 Confusion

1. Regarding the history of various manuscripts, below is a link to an article that focuses specifically on the textual history. Essentially, about 1/2 of the manuscripts available chose to include/exclude Rev. 20:5a until about the 13th Century. After that those that included it gained ground stead...

Re: Revelation 20:5 Confusion

Here's the problem: Those who reign for 1,000 years are those who were resurrected after having been killed for refusing to take the mark of the Beast. But, that mark isn't applied until the final 3.5 years before the climax of the battle of Armageddon, or the judgment of the Beast. So, the 1,000 re...
