Re: A Denomination More Arminian than Wesleyan?

Perhaps one thing that has drawn me to the Calvinist teachings, is the fact that many of the Reformed pastors I have listened to, have an intense love for the Gospel itself, and most are expository preachers. Granted, it is preached in a Calvinistic slant, but justification by faith is preached, wh...

Re: Christians, children and fantasy literature

Other than that ... I actually wouldn't worry much about make-believe people in make-believe worlds doing make-believe things, which is the nature of all fantasy lit. It seems to me like fantasy is least likely to negatively influence a youngster, since fantasy is so far removed from reality. Magic...

Re: Christians, children and fantasy literature

Thanks for the input so far, everyone. There's a lot to consider here. I appreciate the book suggestions as well.

EDIT: Apparently I have two accounts on this board and didn't realize it. I'm who started this thread.

Re: Recommendations for quality small group video material?

Hi Ryan, I'm not sure if Intelligent Design is a subject your group would be interested in but Illustra Media has some really interesting videos and the production quality is fantastic. https://illustramedia.com/productions/ Are there any particular subjects you think your group would be interested...

Recommendations for quality small group video material?

Hi all, Every now and then, I like to give my Sunday school class a break from me teaching through a book of the BIble, and show an edifying video of some sort. The problem I've ran into is finding 'quality' material. I've been a big fan of the 'Dispatches from the Front' DVD series that Tim Keesee ...

Re: A Blood Moonless Evening?

Right... I should have been more clear there. I don't think he was ever aboard the hype-train like some, but I did notice that in some replies to that initial comment he said that he was "open to the possibility of God getting our attention through these things." I mostly just meant that the line of...

Re: A Blood Moonless Evening?

I came across this tweet on Dr. Michael Brown's timeline recently. Maybe this will be the approach that some pro-Blood Moon folks take in finding some sort of significance to attach to the event? Dr. Michael L. Brown ‏@DrMichaelLBrown Oct 1: "Within days of the last blood moon, Russia takes over the...

Re: Hell and Mr. Fudge

Thanks for making me aware of this movie... I had no idea it existed.

My wife and I watched it last night on Hoopla and we both enjoyed it quite a bit. I agree that it probably appeals to a niche audience, but I just happen to be in that niche! :D

Re: Entire Sanctification

Thanks, Matt. I appreciate your take on entire sanctification. As you're aware, I'm also part of a holiness denomination with strong Wesleyan roots, and as I've gotten older, I've taken some issue with how the doctrine has traditionally been taught. Your closing thought, albeit using different termi...

Re: Hurt feelings between church members... advice?

Thank you very much for the input, guys. I really appreciate it. I wasn't able to speak with the pastor last night, as he ended up having to go visit a church member at the hospital suddenly, but I plan to. I've contacted the person who I spoke with and shared some of the things you've mentioned. Pr...
