Was Eutychus raised?

Greetings, In Acts chapter 20 we read of a dramatic incident in Pauls ministry, that of a young man named Eutychus. In this passage as Paul speaks to the assembled believers Eutychus falls asleep in an upper window and falls down, apparently dead. Paul runs over to the young man, lays across him and...

Confessionalism is an innoculate to approaching God.

Re: What happens when you commit suicide

Hi Paul, I haven't posted in a while and I came on tonight to find this question. I have always thought of suicide as the one sin that you don"t have a chance to repent of. Would a person repent if they could? I guess this is the fundamental question. God would know the heart of course and would be ...

Re: what is 'this hope'?

Hi Robin, I suspect you are right regarding the Romans and the upright beams awaiting a crosspiece. As for "impale; the WT stopped using that word with the 2013 edition of the NWT. They had used it consistently from 1950 until then. In each case where the word was "crucify" they changed it to "impal...

Re: what is 'this hope'?

Hi Robin, In terms of modern English due to the overuse and commonplace view of the "cross", "stake" might be a better word to indicate suffering. However, I assume that given enough time, "stake" would take on a similar non-suffering image. I think it is the overuse of the term that takes away from...

Re: Hey Everyone

Welcome to the Board Jason. Like you, I had read that book of Steve's long before I discovered the radio show, and in fact had the same experience of figuring out that it was the same guy that wrote the book.

Re: ‘Together 2016’ Organizer Meets With ‘Pope Francis’ to U

I remember the tradionalist Catholic Malachi Martin being interviewed and he said John Paul II was endeavoring to create a dynamic in which all religions were united under the Catholic Church--Catholics, then Orthodox and Protestant, then Jews and then Muslims. Martin objected because he was a Papis...

Re: what is 'this hope'?

Hey Homer,

I meant no ill-will suggesting Robin has a JW background, or may have been exposed to it. Heck, some of my best friends are.... Either way, it's a translation that is nearly unique to JWs and jumped out at me, for obvious reasons.

Re: Prayer request for my dear mother

Dear Brother Robby,

I am sorry to hear this, and my heart goes out to you and your family for this loss. The longer we stay on this earth the more we have to experience such pain. I will keep you in my prayers.

Regards, Brenden.
